Default BHN Orlando Finally Getting GSN!!!!!!

After over a decade of waiting, BHN Orlando is finally getting GSN (Game Show Network).

The channel debuts April 30 on Channel 138.

This has been a huge deal of frustration for BHN Orlando customers and puzzling because all other BHN affiliates (Even the Panhandle) had this channel.

It is a relief to finally get this channel.

Glad to hear you're getting it, but it's nothing like it used to be. There used to be a lot of classic material, but now it's mostly reality programming, their own remakes of classic shows, or their own productions that might last 13 weeks at best. Their best "vintage" material these days, is mostly Match Game and the $25k Pyramid.

GSN was once my most watched channel. My cable box is still set to power-on to 116, but I've found very little of interest there lately. I keep hoping they'll find a better balance between old and new.

While on the subject of GSN...

As useless it would probably be, does anyone know if Sony is planning an HD version of this channel? Everyone else is doing it, seems like just a matter of time.

Jason,

Thanks!

I've heard GSN has dipped a bit. I had it on my crappy college cable but still liked it.

There is no word anywhere if Sony is planning to launch GSN in HD. I do agree everyone needs to get in HD this year though.

Here are some other notables channels that are still not in HD even though they've been announced in past.

Discovery Health (Becoming OWN), SoapNet, Oxygen, ESPN Classic, Teen Nick, Nick Jr., NickToons, Military Channel, Sleuth, Current TV, Chiller, Fox College Sports, MTV 2, GAC. etc.

It things like the above and GSN definitely has better ratings than most of those channels.

As you can see, I really want Chiller and Sleuth in HD. Hopefully, GSN will go the HD route and even if they have limited programming, at least the channel will then be in the HD section.

It has been nice having GSN this past week.

We did miss the glory days of the channel but I like watching those old Card Sharks episodes.

I hope they eventually bring back the old "Greed" episodes and stuff like "Dog Eats Dog".

I liked greed. I'm not sure why that didn't catch on. Perhaps it was due to Chuck W.

Not sure if ESPN Classic will ever go HD.

I bet ESPN re-brands it and make it something else like Discovery is doing with some of it's channels.
