Hello all,

Evertime i go to watch some of my shows like supernatural and smallville they are not broadcast in HD. Although the guide says its in HD. I have also check another TV with an over the air antenna and it comes in HD. What gives? Some thing on verizons end?
Thanks

When are you guys watching ? If the show is not broadcasted in HD then they, 38, will show it in 480i. But only when they have an HD program will they switch to HD. They have been doing this since day 1.

I just re-read the thread.. I'll pay attention to "supernatural" and "smallville". If it's not in HD on FiOS, then I will contact them. I'll check out OTA also.

I didn't check last week but tonight I did. FiOS is not showing either show in HD however WTTA is showing it in HD OTA. So now the question is who is at fault? How is FiOS getting the signal? I'll find out tomorrow and let you guys know what is going on.

sambo - If you saw the show on a Monday afternoon and it wasn't in primetime then you definately did not see it in HD. WTTA only broadcasts HD during primetime.

Nobody is going to like this the answer
Verizon is working on a Fiber feed from WTTA to their system. It's in our building and as far as I know we're waiting on Verizon to turn it on. It is, however, only SD. I am not aware of them wanting an HD feed. They may expand on that at a future date.
I suggest everyone call Verizon and ask why are we are not getting the HD feed from WTTA when the channel is in the HD Tier.

I've been told that Verizon is holding off on their HD plans as they from what I hear have been in contact with News Corp as the channel will be My Network TV very soon. My contact said that News Corp might be installing splicer hardware soon in MyNetwork TV local stations.
I'm not sure how much truth is in all of this but I can see this being an issue as WB will be for the most part gone in another month or so.

I am not sure why Verizon would even care right now that the splicer might be installed since they are pulling the station OTA for distribution anyway.
If Verizon is touting that WTTA is in the HD tier and showing it in the HD tier then it should be in HD. Right now the channel in the HD tier is 480i.
I am going to call on Monday and ask them why is not just to hear what they say. I'll put in a trouble ticket also for it.

No HD on WTTB -- Smallvile - I was mistaken about watching Smallvile on 806 in HD --- I was watching it on HDNET - 817 ... airs Smallville @ 3pm ... definitely HD there

A month later, I finally got around to calling Verizon. Sorry about that. Anyway, I spoke to a very nice guy, James, I think. My ticket number is FLCP923184. I actually got two return calls. I was impressed with them returning the calls letting me know about the updates.
James stated that the Verizon's network techs stated that the don't see any problem with channel 806, WTTA. That they see the channel in HD. James asked me to have someone else that has FiOS called in an open another ticket stating that are having issues getting channel 806 in HD.
So can someone please call Verizon (888-553-1555) after they verify that channel 806 is not in HD tonight and open a ticket. As you know "Desire" and "Fashion House" is shown in HD between 8 and 10. Of course more people that call in the better. Please post back here with your ticket number and your experience.
I am going to make this thread a sticky for about one week.
Thanks!

Here is an update..
I called back yesterday and spoke with Michael concerning the above ticket. After several phone calls and serveral conversations back and forth, he told me that they are not getting the signal in HD and that it is not coming in that way through their provider. Their provider is a satellite signal from the station he states.
I had to explain it to them that they are getting the signal through a rooftop antenna ie OTA. And that they, Verizon, was working on getting a fiber connection between the station and their system since the middle of August.
At this time, he stated that he was going to close the ticket but keep me informed..
I still suggest that everyone that has FiOS call and complain.

Update:
I just contacted the corporate offices of Sinclair, owner of WTTA. The chief enigineer and legal department is looking into this. Why the legal department? Back in December of 2005, Sinclair and Verizon signed a multi-year retransmission agreement for both the analogue and digital signal on FiOS. And of course at this time, Verizon is not living up to that agreement.

Update:
Just recevied an email from the corporate offices of Sinclair, owner of WTTA.
According to Verizon, they had the wrong equipment in place. The new equipment has already been ordered, and they are waitng for it to arrive so it can be installed. They did not give an estimated date for the station to be on-air.
