Can't believe it came to this, but...
Verizon flew a Motorola tech from Texas to my house today! He confirmed that the signal is OK, but the picture sucks. I have a Samsung HDTV and 2 Sharp HDTV's. 2 of the sets are HD DVR's and 1 is a cable card.
All of the TV's suck at standard definition. I get a slight ghost image which given enough time will drive you nuts and give you a headache! The motorola tech had no idea what to do, but was here to document everything because apparently this is popping up all over. They came to my house because it was a "confirmed" case for them to look in to.
They even looked at my BHN equipment which I have yet to return. They made some notes of all those model numbers.
Bottom line is I don't want to go back to BHN, but I think I have to. FIOS offered me a free month while they work it out, but the Motorola tech doubted it would be fixed in a month.
Here is my quesiton, think I should wait it out? Or just throw in the towel and go back to BHN.
Regards,
M

If you can stand it I would wait it out. It is a shame you have to go through the pain for the rest of us but what they find with yours might be a huge help to others.
Assume you didnt have the ghost image on the BHN, oddly becuase most of us do with BHN at least in the lower analog channels.
Let us know what you do.

Stubro,
Had to go back to BHN. HD Channels look just as crisp as FIOS and the SD is much, much better on BHN. I hate saying that!
However, I gave the regional manager for FIOSTV my email address and told him to email me when they get the kinks worked out.
My wife's father is a local psychologist. Some employees have booked time at his office for their overworked installers! (They specialize in stress relief). Anyways, they told me that lots of installers said issues were popping up that they had clue how to fix and the home office was not much help!

The picture quality is better on Fios and the entire package is better . With BHN I only had one set top box and could only watch all the channels offered in the basic digital package on one TV in the house. The other 3 sets would only go as high as channel 99. Now there are set tops in each bedroom and the living room and I get like 16 showtimes , a bunch of starz and encore channels and a DVR . Plus a 15/2 internet connection for the price I paid for cable internet and the basic digital package at BHN with no DVR.
BHN says they offer a 10mb internet connection but the most I've ever clocked was 3.77 mb down and 477 kb up . And I love the Movies on demand feature that FIOS has also . The tech that installed mine say in a month or so Verizon is upgrading everyone to 20/5 for no additional charge . HELLO ??? What has BHN given us but higher cable rates .

They just completed the install and a sales rep came by. Once he configured what I needed, it was $5 more per month ($190 vs $185) FIOS was higher!
This was for the complete package of TV, Internet (15\2) and Phone. This sound right?
Other than Meistro, is everyone else that much happier with FIOS? Is it really worth the hassle of changing EVERYTHING over?
inquiring minds.....

$5 more than what? Cable? Equivelent packages/equitment? Where you getting phone with cable? Your phone bill shouldn't change. Does the $185 include your phone bill?

I suspect that part of the cost increase is that they switched you back to land line with Verizon. The Verizon VOIP offering is called VoiceWing. It is cheaper than the BHN offering but is an arms length kind of offering since the normal Verizon folks don't deal with it. I tried VoiceWing and it did not work for me but YMMV.

Well, you didn't list what you have with BHN and what you are getting with Verizon. Because, all things being equal (service/equipment/etc) Verizon is usually $5-$20 cheaper.
But, you already told us there were two differences, first BHN isn't 15/2 internet, it is more like 7/256k. Also, what phone plan did you get?
That's why I ask, to only answer your question more accurately.

Bob, you've been around for a while, I'm surprised at your questions. I've had 15/2 from BHN for over a year. Nationwide long distance on BHN VOIP for over a year.

I don't really know the 15/2 price since it's part of the whole package. I think it's $49 but it may be $65, not sure, sorry.
