View Full Version : Land O Lakes CH 13 Interference 24/7.
Since before Xmas, my OTA Channel 13 analog VHF and 13 digital OTA have been riddled with interference. My antenna is 30 ft. above the ground aimed at Riverview through the SR54 and Collier Parkway intersection in Land O'Lakes. The interference is in the form of 1 second bursts every 90 seconds or so, sometimes a single burst, sometimes 3 bursts, sometimes 4 or 5 bursts about a second in duration. It knocks analog to snow and freezes digital OTA. Voice mail to Channel 13 engineering asking about other similar complaints remains unanswered. FCC says the station must initiate investigation. You see where this is going. My Brighthouse Ch 13 and 613 show no such interference.
The regularity and 24/7 nature of this problem suggests arcing or neon sign, traffic light controller, utility call-home transmitter, etc.
Any others having similar symptoms or suggestions?

Use the AM/FM tuners in your car to see if you can find the same interference pattern. If it is a noisy device it may be emitting noise over a wide bandwidth, or use a small battery-powered TV to drive around with and narrow down the problem source. If it is an electrical malfunction, then maybe you can find it and get the owner to fix it. If there is some type of microwave beam that is passing your house, then good luck. Let us know what you find.

I live in wesley chapel north of 54 and west of 75 and I am using the zenith Silver sensor HDTV antenna .I have the silver sensor pointed to the southeast in the attic near my VHF antenna .They are connected through a vhf/uhf combiner.I have the combiner hooked to a 15db gain amp made by motorola, then have the coax run down to the TV.I get a 98 percent signal most of the time for FOX 13.1 as well as all the other stations in the area. You can get the combiner at radio shack for about 12 dollarsand the antenna on the web for about 20.00 dollars. The motorola signal booster was on sale at circuit city for 80.00 with a 30 dollar rebate.
