Hey all,
My Sammy SIR-T451 tuner (hooked up to BH) works fine except with WEDU-HD. Periodically over the past few days, the audio gets pretty nasty and out-of-sync. Give it a couple minutes and the issue clears up.
Changing channels while WEDU sounds poor, WTSP (the next channel) sounds perfectly fine. Returning to WEDU, the audio problem return.
I'm thinking that the issue is upstream of my tuner. Haven't take the time to go OTR since it's a bit of a pain to reprogram the tuner, but am tempted to.
Anyone have any similar issues or other comments (be nice!)
:)

I've been having the same problem with WEDU over the air. It's a broadcast issue. Leave your equipment alone!

does weduhd break up so bad with anyone else that you give up even trying to watch it? I don't know if its just over bhn or if its ota too but it's constantly macro blocking for me these days, no other channels have this problem though. it used to block up in fast motion because wedu broke up their bandwidth for all those useless side channels but now it seems to do it on anything, and much worse.

Right now at this moment, I am not getting anything OTA from WEDU 3.5. Is anybody else?
I am getting it via FIOS on channel 806 or whatever it is. How about BHN?

Thanks for responding. Glad it isn't me....that is, I'm glad it isn't my tuner...oh, you know what I mean.... :)

I have been watching and listening to WEDU for the past couple of days OTA. (the post that I made earlier was due to my equipment). Anyway, so far I haven't had any issues with the audio. Is the audio issues you are hearing consisant 'everytime' you are on the channel? Before I call over there at the station I want to make sure I know what I am talking about.

It's been having audio issues for about 2 weeks now but I'm not having any problems at all receiving the channel. It's strictly an issue with the audio that is being broadcast. The actual volume of the audio trails away and is replaced by a gurgly digital static sound. Sort of like what Yota sounds like when he's at a jedi meeting in holograph form from 6 light years away.

This is so weird as I have yet to have any issues with the audio. I do hear the delay between the video and the audio but according to WEDU that is coming from the network.
I mentioned to them about the static and aren't aware of anything but he stated he will get on the board here and read your posts about it.

Yup, sounds like the same thing I'm getting, although I think that holograph has a Brooklyn accent..... :D
But all seriousness aside, I'm thinking that this sound equates to what I've read as the description of distortion from too hot a signal in the digital domain (sort of like hundreds of razor blades dropping onto a piece of glass.) Not saying that's the cause, just that the symptoms match up with some random magazine article, at least as I remember it.
I have listened for an hour or more without hearing the distortion, although the out-of-sync issue often appears with the distortion. Also, it is limited to the PBS-HD feed (the other two WEDU-DT feeds are fine.) Maybe this weekend I'll spend some time to go back to OTA (an issue in my location) and see if the problem goes away.... :)

I usually catch my PBS-HD programming via tivo so the audio problems may now be a thing of the past as I actually suffered through live television last night and witnessed no problems with 3-5. They may have fixed it.

By any chance, did you ever stumble over anything else on this issue? All this time later, it still happens. I've noted that the issue happens for me on BH and OTR with both that previously-mentioned Samsung tuner and the S3 TiVo, as well as with the Moto dvr a friend in Sarasota uses on their Verizon cable. And I have noted that I can go a couple days without hearing it, then perhaps hear it a couple times within an hour-long show. Really bummed me to hear it on the first evening broadcast of the Newport Jazz Festival 2006 this past 1/19.
Clearly it's GOTTA be a Ch 3 or PBS thing and not a BH isuse, so I hope you'll forgive me for askin' ya. Just thought that in case ya had heard something...
Thanks.... :)

To tell you the truth, I totally forgot about this. I'll put it on my list to look into it again.

Again, thanks. It's good of you to pay attention to BH users here to begin with (take THAT, DirectTV!) but this isn't even a BH issue to begin with. Awful nice of you to pass along whatever you might find out at some point...
