Somethings going on with BHN. For example, I have HSN on channel 25 (previously 140 or something), TNT on channel 33 (The Weather Channel was on 33 and TNT was previously on 26), ESPN2 on channel 28, Flix is now on channel 118, The Weather Channel on 63, I discovered a GOLF channel on 67 and discovered TOONS on 144 (I'm not sure if these channels are new or not), looks like I have a new channel called Military on 103 and The Biography Channel on 104. Ok, I'm confused! Could someone tell me what's happening with BHN?

The Military channel on 103 used to be called D-Wing. They simply changed their name, BHN did not move anything in their case. Jan 10th was the date of the change IIRC.
The Golf Channel on 67 has been there for a couple of years.
That's the stuff I knew off the top of my head, haven't looked at the rest of them yet.

Did SciFi just recently move from channel 63 to 60.

In the North Pinellas lineup, SciFi moved to 60, The Weather Channel moved to 63, CNBC moved to 42........ Not sure what else may have been moved. What the hell is the point of moving channels around like this anyway? Are they preparing to change their subscription packages, so they're putting packaged channels in groups? Or does BHN just like to irritate it's customers?

for what its worth, there was a blurb in the Manatee paper today that BHN had "changed some of its channels with no prior warning". the other channel i saw mentioned was ESPNC, which was moved to 26? I believe.

Looks like something is in the works. I know The Horror Channel is in the works to be added soon. It's kinda strange that some digital channels have gone to SD and some SD channels have gone digital. My guess is BHN is positioning itself for head to head combat with Verizon. I could be wrong but somethings definately happening here.

It's a little early for that at least in Pinellas County. Something is up for sure but what I have no clue and again Verizon TV is coming in Pinellas County but not quick enough to warrant a BHN no notice change. The only thing I can think off if they are changing stuff to offer all analog channels in digital and analog or maybe Progress Energy has been doing upgrades behind the scenes and might roll out TV now that the FCC has approved the standards. I know that Progress Energy is looking at getting into the TV service and HSI business but I was never told when and for some reason I don't think Progress would call up BHN and tell them they will be competing with them in a month or so.
The only thing I can think off is that either Verizon and/or Progress Energy has laid out plans to the Pinellas County City Countil and that info would be provided to BHN but it would still have to be some pretty specific plans with dates for BHN to screw with customers like this. If they gave out a 30+ day notice in the bill I would understand but when you move common channels such as TNT without notice there has to be a benefit for this move.

I'm in one of two areas within Pinellas County that was built early enough to include fiber undergrand from the street to the houses and our central office was built around the sametime and as such included fiber. Now I've got an ONT box outside my house and they ripped out my copper phone lines and ran cat5 cables. I've got these things that look like DSL filters but they aren't that because they have one end being an ethernet jack and the other end being a standard phone jack. So the jack at the wall is a cat5 jack and I plug an ethernet cable from that jack into the ethernet jack on this filter device. I than plug a standard phone cable into the phone jack on this filter and plus the other end into my phone itself. I can say that my internet has been down but my phone service stayed up the entire time. Now the ONT box actually has coax inputs on it when Verizon offers TV service and the ONT box has outputs but I don't know how many but that isn't a big deal because they can use a basic multiswitch like cable uses to get extra room. So if they offer TV service the TV signal would come via fiber from the CO into my ONT box and the ONT box would route that signal via coax cable towards the box that asked for it because this would be a two way system. This is pretty cool stuff I might add.

There's also another free-on-demand channel, channel 340. "Tampa Bay On Demand", a channel with local content (er, duh ;)), primarily Bay News 9 and Brighthouse 47 content. This was "hard launched" on the 14th.

Thanks for the update TampaHank. Any new content is exciting even though the material may be lame. Who knows, might even find something useful to watch.
