Last I'd seen here on the subject of Sinclair increasing the broadcast power for WTTA (local WB affiliate) was "after the first of the year". Has anybody heard whether there's been any movement or clarification of that date?

Here in St. Pete I've noticed a increase in signal strength and consistancy. I used to have a signal strength of about 20% with drops but now I usually see about 70%, which keeps it pretty solid. However, I've got a pretty big antenna. In all seriousness, others I believe are still having issues and I would imagine if you're using rabbit ears or an indoor antenna of some kind you're still having a heck of a time getting WB-38.

on friday night, i couldn't get ANY signal from 38.
now my antenna was pointing toward CBS, but i still got PBS, NBC, FOX off the back cause i'm so close to the Riverview farm.
but why no signal at all from 38?
I wasn't going to spin the antenna around just to check them but it did seem odd - still hold up the theory about them on low[er] power than the other stations.

Jaymer -
You know my antenna and I still can't get WB with a 5 mile clear shot - maybe they are beaming it twoards the west because of the lower power.

I pick it up in Clearwater as high as 55% and some nights as low as 15%. Like Jaymer said, they are fluctuating the power for sure. I think some people may actually be too close to the towers for reception. Speaking of OTA, has anyone heard about the "supertower" they are building in Denver? It supposedly will be much higher than any previously built tower and will house all of the areas digital channels. Sounds pretty cool.

Yea sounds great until something happens
Ask NYC broadcasters about all antennas in one loacation, Twin Towers. Many were of the air for days and weeks in some cases. I think CBS was the only that had a back-up ant. on the Empire State Bldg. They were only off the air a couple of hours.
Or
The broadcasters in Canada (Montreal I think) were they did the same thing on top of the tallest free standing observation tower. A fire in the electronics room at the top knocked all of them off air for some time.
Denver --- dont give up your existing towers as back-ups

I've not been able to receive a quality signal from WTTA, but my antenna is mounted in my attic. I was afraid that my setup would preclude me from watching the channel if they were broadcasting at their full power.
Coincidentally, the hard drive in my HD DirecTiVo went belly up last weekend, and of course, I didn't have a backup, so I went back to my Samsung HD receiver. During the week last week (as late as Wednesday night), I was able to watch WB-38 in HD using that unit. This made me suspect the tuner/HD decoder in the DirecTiVo was not as good as that in the Samsung, and that I'd be out of luck when my replacement DirecTiVo arrived.
The replacement unit arrived Friday, I installed it, and sure enough, I couldn't get a signal on WB-38. However, trying again with the Samsung unit, I could no longer get a signal there either.
Simply more evidence that the guys at WTTA are messing with the power output of their broadcast signal, and it's not just my antenna setup.

Are you talking about WB corp or Sinclair corp. I'm thinking Sinclair but why would they have any control over turning something up. Heck if they don't want to turn the power up they might as well give the feed to BHN and tell BHN to put it in their HD Pak like they do ESPN HD. I would rather have WB and UPN HD in the HD Pak than not at all but BHN just can't understand that now can they.
To me 6.00/month feels better with WB HD and UPN HD than without doesn't it.
