I saw the speed increase yesterday. One observation and I hope it has to do with all the maintance upgrades but I can't seem to keep an IP longer than a day now. I know we are issued a dynamic IP but I was able to go 6months or longer before the speed upgrade without losing the IP.

:D MY downloads used to be around 350K, now they are close to 600K!! BTW, I never turn off my router. I have had the same IP address for months. I remote control the home computer from the office so that I can manage a Fantasy Football league.

Dave.

I never turn off my router neither, and I actually have my router setup using a static ip. But ever since wednesday morning I have gone thru proabably over 10 different ips. Before wednesday I had the same IP for god nows how long. Im just hoping its because of the recent changes to the network and not something permantly

Your download speed : 1520415 bps, or 1484 kbps.
A 185.5 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 362357 bps, or 353 kbps.

It is hard to get consistent results when your speed is 5MB. I am really disabpointed with the upload, I need that more than the download. I like to RDP into my computer from wherever and I could really use the extra speed.

good reason to switch to the fios service if you can get it...it has much higher upload speed than bhn for the same price.

FYI, I got hit with the upgrade in Manatee. No VOIP from BHN, just a normal RR customer. good stuff

what sites are yall using to check your speed?
I d/l 4 shows in 1 hour via TORRENTS, and that was faster than I ever did over the past 3-4 months, but haven't nailed down an exact rate yet.

my download leveled off around 600 kbps on the rr test...it started at over 1000 though but dropped quickly.

I used to get a steady 350 kbps so i guess mine has gotten the increase...I think?

I have an old Motorola Cybersurfer Wave modem. My download speed is still about 300K. I'm in NW Hillsborough. I thought I got an email from Brighthouse telling me of the speed increase. Should I just wait or call them about getting a new modem?

Try this website, you may have to hit the button that tells you to run the test again.

I'm in the exact same boat - I'm going to give them a call on Monday and see if they need to swap modems.

Just to let everyone know. You do need a newer modem if you want the speed increase. I swapped out my Cybersurfer for a new Motorola Surfboard and now have the speed increase. Download are now over 500K.

Thank you.

I just stopped by their office on Linebaugh in Tampa and gave them the old modem and asked for a new one. I would just go to your nearest office in Pinellas county to your home and do the same. By the way don't go at noon. When I left the Linebaugh office there were 15 people in line. Here's a link with office locations for Pinellas. Make sure you bring the power supply also. http://tampabay.mybrighthouse.com/site/ContactUs/Pinellas.cfm

Just to clarify: You only need a new modem if you have one of the very old Ericcson models. Everything else has been tested to work fine.

Enjoy the upgrade.
