I just got my set replace by the store (I wont mention names), but they tried to pass off a Demo unit on us. Now I have about enough hrs to think about a calibration. I have the Avia disk and it looks like my Geo setting are a little off. So who knows a ISF tech that is local and knows Philips sets. I have the Service CD for my set, but no centering templet.

I hate to respond to my own post, but are there no calibrators around here to recommend? Bump.

There are a few listed for the bay area under www.imagingscience.com. I have heard annoucements on the various forums such as avs and hometheaterspot when different ISF calibrators are going to be in certain areas. Good luck and let us know how your calibration goes.

nobody here in town I would recommend. However, Gregg Loewen will be in town calibrating Brian Steves (TampaHDTV member) mitsu in November, you might want to make arrangements. He is very highly in demand. I have not used him but I have seen Gregg's work and it is very impressive.

here is a review of his skills

Jerry, thanks for the kind words.

I actually come to Florida quite often. My next visit in in November then again in Feb 2004.

Usually by flying into Tampa then do a driving trip around the state, the entire State can be serviced in one trip. I dont mind the travel and dont charge extra for doing so.

You guys have a great "local" board here and I am glad to help out. I have offered Jaymer $25 per calibration that I complete where the client is a member of this board. Hope this helps?

I am at your service. Please dont hesitate to email me with any questions or concerns that you may have.

Anyone planning on getting their set ISF'd? I'm thinking the earliest I could do it is when he comes in Feb 04.

I'm considering the calibration for my DLP but . . . since I'm kind of a neophyte, should I expect a substantial improvement over what I obtain using AVIA? Also, is it better to perform a calibration now with a couple hundred hours on the lamp or wait for a while?

I'm weighing the cost vs. benefit.

For bulb based displays you need at least 50 hours on the unit, then it will be stable until replaced.

Benefit depends on how bad it is now, so it is hard to say. All I can definitely say that is after a calibration your set will be as accurate as it can get.

Hope that helped??

BTW, I had a cancellation on the morning of Nov 9th and could work you in then, please email me if interested. I will be returning in February.
