Sat TV Pirate Gets Seven Years
DirecTV Inc. said that Martin Mullen, also known as Martin Stewart, was sentenced earlier this week by the U.S. District Court of the Middle District of Florida to seven years in prison and ordered to pay DirecTV and a subsidiary of NDS Ltd., DirecTV's smart card provider, $24 million in restitution.

According to DirecTV, Mullen admitted he was engaged in a comprehensive satellite television piracy scheme involving an army of more than 100 sub-dealers and the distribution of thousands of illegal smart cards in Canada and the United States.

If all of those people that pirated would have been real paying D* customers, we'd probably already be watching the 150 HD channels planned for 2005-2006 because they would have had the money to fund the launches of those birds sooner.

More like the CEO would be paid more and the stock holders would get a better dividend.

I can't imagine that someone would get 7 years for that, but I guess they have to use the king pin as an example.

It has been over 6 months since the HU stream was turned off, and still no hack for the P4 card.
Looks like D* has finnaly figured out how to secure their network. Too bad dish can't figure it out.
