Well I have a good friend that can't shell out for the HD Tivo and is almost up with his 1 year agreement with DirecTV and is looking to go with BHN to get their HD DVR even if she had to wait a few months for it. Now she doesn't care about football so she has no reason to stay with one company over the other. Now with that said she wanted to know if she could get a very nice discount from BHN like others have gotten. For example she was telling me she would like to get an offer that one of her friends got. Now I will say what the offer is but I can't say whether its a real offer or not but I'm sure it is.

Her friend got every channel they offered not counting the their HD PAK. This includes all basic digital cable channels plus all 5 premium channels plus the encore channels. This also included Premiums On Demand and the Sports Pak as well. This offer "did not" include high speed internet because she doesn't have or want a computer. Now she was able to get this for one year at 49.95/month not including taxes or box rental fees.

Now assuming that is true how would she go about getting this offer or what would be the best offer she could get and how would she get it. I know I'm asking a lot but she doesn't want to call them and blow a chance to get a great or better offer and again she doesn't have a computer so I'm stuck doing this.

She also did say she wouldn't mind doing a dish buy back offer and give BHN the hardware.

I am pretty sure that BHN is always doing the dish buy-back thing, I am not sure on the particulars of the offer though. Also, remember that BHN is in business to make money and grow customer-base which means they are in the Customer-Service business. In that business, the customer has the power to tell the company what they want - just like going to a car dealer... in that respect, there are other car dealers in town (i.e. dish, direct, voom...) to compete with BHN so if she fights a strong fight to get what she wants, unless it's totally rediculous (i.e. I want that new Corvette for $2), she should be able to get a great deal. Tell her to keep in mind the old saying: If you don't ask, you don't get.
