I was watching the evening news tonight which is not normal for me and I saw a promo for a show on ch 10 called Eye on the Storm 2006 and the announcer says it will be the first local special presented in HD.
So check it out this Saturday at 8pm.

From the front page:
WTSP to produce first local HD programming
Gannett Broadcasting purchased 'floating' Sony XD HD cameras and editing equipment that includes a Power Mac G5 with Apple's Final Cut. The cameras will 'float' from station to station so that each station can produce their own HD program. WTSP, www.tampabays10.com (http://www.tampabays10.com/), was the first station to receive and use the HD equipment. While most of the program will be in HD, including the graphics, most if not all of the hurricane footage will be unconverted. The upconversion process was a learning experience that WTSP had to overcome. Final edits of the program was still be working as of Wednesday. When it is completed the final broadcast version will be copied to a Blu-ray disk.
Check out Hurricane Special - Eye on the Storm 2006 on Channel 24 on Saturday, June 3 at 8:00pm

No a bad broadcast. Considering this is a new proces for them, they didn't do too bad a job. A bit outta focus in parts but they seem to recover rather quickly.
My only gripe was, too much cutting in of SD content. The back and forth of the red border was rather annoying.
