Just switch from directv to verizon fios. 1st in Wellswood area. Took about two days, do to some kind of switch box that was not working. Two techs came out and it took about 4hrs to install, after the the 1st day. Had directv with hd service and Hbo,4 set top boxes for about 82.00 dollars with discounts. For the same price without discounts. Got 3 set top boxes with VOD,and 1 HD box with VOD/HDDVR and HBO and sports package.Picture on my Samsung was about the same on the hd channels but did see better pic on regular channels. On smaller tv's in other rooms the pic. is much clearer. Even my kids say it looks better.Remotes are about same as all others not easy to read. but with time, sure be easy to used. One thing I like, is I can press a button and see weather and traffic reports on screen. Last I would like to say is that I can take the dish off my roof and not hear my wife complaint it. And any heavy winds from knoting it down, since everything is under ground. Also got the dsl service FFFFFasst.

I'm glad your happy but a couple of things worry me about your install. First HDTV channels should be looking much much better than DirecTVs HDTV but it might have just been the programming itself not quite looking as good but still it should be much much better.

Also just a note of information just so you know. If you had your phone service converted over to fiber which is what they do by default unless you tell them otherwise you no long can get DSL service from Verizon or any DSL company offering service in your area. So the internet service your enjoying is FIOS internet and not DSL internet and I feel you should be fully aware of this. Also if you don't need all that speed for internet and would rather save money FIOS offers a plan you must call to get but its called FIOS Lite and speeds are 1.5Mbps down 768Kbps UP for 14.95/month. I've also heard that soon they will be upgrading speeds on all teirs and I've been told that FIOS Lite will increase in speed to about 3Mbps down/1Mbps UP so in the future if money is more important over sheer speed keep this option in mind. Again if your interested in the slower cheaper price plan you must call Verizon and ask to switch to FIOS Lite plan.

Beyond this bit of advice I think you will enjoy all FIOS services quite well.

Nope I don't work for any TV, internet or phone company. Also my above post isn't doing a very good job selling is it. I've seen enough of FIOS TV HD in action to know it looks much better than DirecTVs HD so if it doesn't look good I believe that something is wrong. I do know quite a bit about various services because I have contacts at these companies and of course I love technology which drives me to keep up on it for my own benefit.
