Thanks to my buddy Rich Kraus's attic crawling abilities I finally have OTA HD! I can now watch my BUCS on MNF WOO HOO!!
I have had HDNet for the last several months but not any of the OTA HD channels.I spent most of today installing my antenna, a "Tampa Bay Special". Rich came over and was kind enough and skinny enough to crawl through my attic, not an easy feat, to run the RG6 cable for me. Thanks again Rich!!!. There's not a chance in hell I would have been able to get to the spot where the cable came through the gable wall.
We got finished running the cable to the receiver around 8 o'clock, just in time for the start of some HD Tennis! WOW, what an incredible picture. I now know what some of you guys have been enjoying for awhile.
After sitting there awestruck for awhile I decided to count the number of Digital/HD channels I now had...13 OTA and 4 DTV HD channels!! That's 17 digital channels. Granted not all of them broadcast in HD but I can now cancel the local channel package from DTV. The picture from OTA blows away the DTV feed of the same channel.
If you've been contemplating getting an antenna for your OTA HD/Digital local channels I whole-heartedly recommend it. The antenna including the mast and mounting hardware only set me back about $90. I did splurge on some nice snap-n-seal RG6 connectors and crimper ($60) and I also bought a 1000ft. box of solid copper RG6 ($40). So all in all I have about $190 in it.
