Installer is coming next Saturday to install my 3-room HD Directv system. I had no idea how the OTA HD signals would work until I found this site, now I feel well-read on the subject and should be able to really piss-off the installer! I, too, jumped on the Sunday Ticket deal and have decided to give BHN the boot. One good thing that has come of this is, my RoadRunner service that was $49 a month got dropped down to $32 a month after I threatened to drop that service along with the cable - I really planned to keep it, but their CSR didn't know that.
With BHN I had their HD package and was fairly satisfied. The only other thing I had was HBO & HBO on demand - and my month bill with internet service was $125 a month. Once my 4-month free package with Directv is over, I'm going to go with their top of the line package for $90.99 a month and add my $32 for internet to that and pretty much keep the same bill, but I'll be adding all the movie channels. I've had regular Directv service for years, but this is the first time I'll use their HD package. After reading all the info here, I wish I wouldn't have paid $50 for the OTA antenna, but at least now I know how to improve the reception here in Lutz.
If anyone is interested, I'll give a full report Saturday after I release the installer!

I have just finished setting up my Directv system I have the HDTivo in the living room and the standard tivo in the bedroom.
I have yet to call and cancel my cable and I really appreciate your post so I can try to get the same deal on Road Runner.
I will miss INHD1&2 and TNT, but it is well worth it for ESPNHD, HDTivo, and the Sunday Ticket.
Lucky for me I live in Ybor City on the thirsd floor and I can get all the OTA channels with indoor antenna's.

Good deal man, I just got my system turned on Friday, Ben (bdraw) came over and helped me point the dish and got me started. I'm able to pick up all of the local stations except CBS, and we're going to rig up an antenna combination to get it working soon.
Overall I'm very happy with the setup, EPSN HD and Discovery HD have been on my TV pretty constantly. I had my first taste of a bad storm taking out the signal, but I'm not really a die-hard TV watcher, and a few minutes of the thing not working will probably help me clean the kitchen and get some things done around the house if anything.

Ditto. I'm also dumping BHN for the DirecTV NFL ST special but want to keep RR internet service. I had planned on paying them full price for it, but now that I've read that they'll bend over and give it to us at the discounted rate, that's even better news. Please report back your findings when you call to cancel. My D* install probably won't be until next weekend, so I still have some time before I cancel BHN and want to hear what you got them to do for you w/ internet service.

I called and canceled BHN yesterday, and got the same 32/mo deal on RR for 6months.
Just told them I wanted to cancel my services and they made the offer.
Hopefully by the time my 6 months is up, Verizon will be offering their 15Mbs Fiber by then.

Damn, I need to do the same, I'm definitely paying full price for RR as well.

Glad I could be of 18 dollars worth of service to you guys. Yeah, the BHN rep even went so far as to take the money off my last bill and told me the new adjusted bill amount on the phone.
I wish I could afford the Tivo HD box, but for the set-up I ordered the box itself would cost $700 more. Try stuffing that down the wife's throat along with all this other tech stuff she doesn't understand and you'll lose an arm!

I had my DirecTV installed today and called BHN to cancel service. The CSR didn't offer me anything about keeping RR internet service for $32, so I had to bring it up.
She said the $32.95/month is only a 6 month promotion that they are running and their rates will go back up to $49.95 on December 29th. I told her, "Fine, I'll just call back around Christmas to cancel RR then if they want to jack the rate back up and reevaluate then, but for now leave it on for the $32.95". )
