Hi

I installed a large Radio shack 15-2154 antenna in my attic because I was not getting signals 35 miles away due west. So I installed the antenna pointing west in the direction of the far signal. Now I have trouble catching stations in my own back yard that are east

According to antenna web, the far signal I was trying to get is 315 degrees from where I am. The ones in my back yard that I now have a problem with are 118 degrees and 103 degrees respectively. Note that 118 degrees is almost exactly 180 degrees behind where I have the antenna pointed. The funny thing the channels in my back yard are only 5 miles away. The signal meter on my tuner shows a peak of about 75 out of 100 which is good but the actual meter fluctuates from zero to 55. It fluctuates I would say every 10 seconds. So I get a good frame and then it freezes as the signal drops to zero. I have never had this problem for the two weeks I have up the antenna.

In either case what are my options?? Can I attach something at the other end of my antenna to receive signals in the opposite direction?? Can I install a second rabbit ears antenna in the attic? If yes would I just combine the two antennae coax cable using a combiner/splitter into the coax to the tv???

Please share any other options available.

Thanks

Sounds to me like you're so close to the Riverview towers that an antenna isn't even necessary. But of course you want the distant signal hence the antenna. Chances are your receiver is catching the "local" signals off the back of the antenna just fine. However it's picking those same signals off the front side due to refection and causing multipath breakups. Maybe you can rotate the antenna and find a happy median for all stations.
