I was reading online that D* has recently launched their new HD satellite which will allow them to carry TNT-HD and probably another. I know D* will be providing TNT-HD within a month but I'm guessing we'll be seeing another HD channel with TNT's intro. The rumor is it will be FX-HD. D* will probably launch both together to make up for lacking behind E* and cable as far as TNT goes. It's about damn time!

Still waiting for them to add some channels. So far the D* HD channel offer has been pretty lame for the extra $10 bucks

I think you're gonna see Bravo-HD before FX.

Yeah that's the last time I trust an online thread.... We'll definately be seeing Bravo-HD before anything. I did run into something interesting off the D*m site the other day about October's big plans that involve HD. They don't specifically say what's going to happen but I'll post it anyhow.

Here it is.....looks like I'm going to cancel my HD package last week of September! I'll take it free for half a year or so.

DIRECTV HD Package Offer
Get Six Months FREE of the DIRECTV HD Package Starting August 5!
We are so excited about all the high-definition programming that will be available from DIRECTV this fall — we just had to create a new offer that would give customers no excuses to miss out! Starting August 5, 2004, any residential DIRECTV customer (new or existing) who activates the DIRECTV® HD Package with an annual commitment to any DIRECTV® TOTAL CHOICE® programming package will receive the first six months of the DIRECTV® HD Package for FREE. In the seventh month, customer’s DIRECTV HD package subscription will continue at the regular price of $10.99/mo.

This offer can be combined with any other offers the customer is eligible for. However, please note, that the “Up to Three Rooms Free” promotion does not include the hardware needed to receive HD hardware. If you choose to advertise the DIRECTV HD programming offer with a hardware offer, please be sure to clearly indicate the cost of HD hardware.

YAWN.....still waiting for D* to do anything with there HD package.

If not for Sunday Night Football on ESPN-HD...I would have dumped this...Ok maybe not because some movies SHOHD & HBOHD are all right but everything else is lame.

At least give us TNT and a couple more HD movie channels that are available. Ten $ is a little steep for what the are offering.

You can get the HD pak for free right now, just go onto D* website and remove the HD pak and re add it to your line up and you will get it free for 6 months.

I take back what I said...I love my D* HDTV Package...LOL

Thanks for the tip Dknow, worked like a charm

Always nice to get something from these guys considering I have everything they offer...I am also in the middle of getting $300 credit from D* because of an issue with my faulty Hughes HTL-HD receiver under warranty.

Basically it went bad (lost ability to pick up OTA UHF Channels) and Hughes does not support them anymore (sold the division to RCA). Anyways, D* now provides the warranty on this unit but all the do is replace it and after two trys I got the bare bones stripped down RCA model out there and this was not cool.

So I worked a deal that they give me a programming credit $300 and I would buy a replacement unit similar to the HTL-HD...Got the Sammy 360, so far not to bad.

Glad to hear that it worked out for you although now I'm freaked out because I'm currently running that HTL-HD that you had die on you. On the other hand, if it did happent to die it would give me an excuse to go buy a new toy like, oh I don't know.......HD-TIVO!

You know, I have to thank you for the post mgd2win because I had forgotten to give it a try and just did it. I did it online...canceled and reactivated within one minute and sure enough....I'm getting it free for six months! Damn I love free HDTV!

Dknow....Like I said if your HTL-HD dies dont let them dod the exchange thing...make them give you a $300 programming credit of what it would take to replace the HTL with a similiar unit...Sammy 360 for $299...then take that money and hook yourself up with a HD-Tivo

Reason I didnt go that route is because I like the Panarama option on the HTL & 360 for watching 4:3 programming.
