I noticed this morning that BHN has added channels 961 -971, TEST1 thru TEST11.
Anyone heard anything about what these might be?

My contacts said they are the first 11 channels that are testing for digital simulcast. This means things are close to going all digital for customers with a digital box. Most markets start out testing 10 or so channels and slowly increasing them until all are up and running and working correctly. Once this is done they will take 10 of the less watched analog channels and test them in the field with all the customers. So when that happens anytime you the customer tunes into one of those ten channels it will be the digital feed. This is done and more channels are added as they go until all are done at which time everyone has an all digital lineup if you have a digital box.
I would say it should be done within a few months.

I prefer CableGuy not saying NFL Network.
How about not saying ESPN2HD? ;)
Seriously, NFL Network is needed before next season, the sooner the better.

We already do a simulcast, it is channel 16, analog without a box, digital with a box. BHN has no reason to test such a thing when they already have it done. ESPN 'Dos' and NFL Network came from a good birdie
They have it done for one frickin channel and testing this type of stuff with one channel compared to 70 channels is much different as I hope you would know. Also I've seen ESPN, SciFi and such in analog on BHN and they look like total crap compared to those same channels that I now have in digital on Comcast in New Hampshire. If you can't see the need for BHN to move forward and maybe ummm catch up to the rest of the world that is now in digital than they would be whipped very badly by Verizon. If you work for BHN as it appears you should be fired if you can't see the benefit or should I say requirement that BHN offer customers with a digital box an all digital lineup very fast.
Also answer me this question below. If ADS is no big deal why is Comcast rolling this out in all of their markets and why did BHN in Central Florida waste their time going ADS a month or so ago. This is the attitude that always kills companies and it will be what will lose BHN their customers to Verizon. The bottom line is that in 2006 ADS is the norm not the exception and unless BHN reaches that norm they will lose customers and it will only get worse.
I may have been agressive with this post but anytime I hear from a person that the current crap analog system is fine when customers are asking for something that is becoming the norm I like see these people fired. If you do work for BHN I might try and find out who you are and see if maybe Mike, Shelley or somebody else I know will set you straight. You are saying this to the public and that is something BHN might not like you doing. If you really have this type of attitude you won't last long in this business I'm sorry to say.
Remember "the customer is ALWAYS right" and never forget this. This is exactly what companies are doing. Not listening to customers when they yell it right in their faces. That is telling the customer you are right and they are wrong when they the customers are paying your darn bills.

What makes this even worse is that when people go out and buy a new HDTV expecting excellent video quality and when they goto hook it up with a HD cable box the analog channels look 100x worse than they did before on thier SDTV. I was so dissapointed after watching the normal channels on the HDTV. If you have the ability to simulcast why do it with channel 16? After reading this thread I went to check out channel 16 and they were showing some old guy doing watercolors, another thing too is that channel 16 is already in the HD tier at 616 so it kindof defeats the simulcast. Why not do channels that are somewhat decent. I think my first pick would be FX. With shows like Nip/Tuck and Thief this station could really benefit from a digital signal.

If and when BHN goes all-digital, will the digital boxes carry digital on channels 01 - 99, or will we have to tune to something like 901 - 999?
