Hi group,

I have several TV's in the house, using the SA boxes. 1 PVR and 1 digital box and all of the onscreen channel guide (the bar at the bottom of the picture that shows the channel number and show title) works fine.

But upstairs on my HDTV with the Pace box, the bar does not show up on the analog channels. For SD, I use the S-Vid out of the pace box into my receiver, and then out from the receiver into the TV. The bar appears fine on the digital channels (100+) but not on the others.

Any ideas?

Aaron

Amheck, your pace box is probably in the pass mode...try putting it into 1080i ... it probably will appear..

Well, I'm starting to maybe think it IS something with the box. I was trying and trying to get into the PACE setttings and couldn't. I finally said, well, lets change to channel 100 and see if it works. And vollia, there it is.

Confirmed these settings:
Resolution 1080i
Aspect 16x9

So bottom line, both the Pace settings and channel bar do not show on analog channels. Hmmmm.......

Thanks for the reply millerman

Ok, you were on the right track. I tried putting it to PASS and now the channel bar shows up. Does it matter which way I have this set? I don't really understand these settings.

Originally, I had the Pace set to 1080i and 16x9. When I set the box to pass, the picture on the screen went to a 4:3 picture with black bars on the side (even though my TV was in stretch mode). Then I set the PACE to 4:3 aspect and then the picture filled up the whole screen.

Would someone be able to fill me in on what all of these settings are doing? I guess I really don't fully understand. I have a Pioneer 64" Widescreen which I think has a pretty good line doubler, if that has anything to do with it (which I think it might).

Thanks!
Aaron

Amheck, since your Tv is a 16:9 set you need to have the pace box set for that first so that you can stretch and zoom.. Second, im not sure if your TV will accept a 720p signal or not...most RPT'S dont. Your best bet is to put it on 1080i so the box will output that all of the time and make sure its set to 16:9.. Just leave it there all the time...there is no need to keep changing it.

Also amheck the pass feature just passes the format coming into the box right to your tv so your tv would adjust to what ever signal is coming in (ie. 480i,480p,720p or 1080i). So say your tv doesnt accept 720p and you tune to 613, or 628 your tv wouldnt be able to tune in those stations. My set does all formats so I just leave mine on Pass. Hope this helps

The Pace 550 doesn't pass the guide on analog channels using the S-Vidio output. But it works fine on the DVI or component.
