Hi gang,

We just purchased a new house in St. Pete. Our current house in Tampa was new in 2002 and has the home-runned wiring and I understand it inside and out. Well, the new house was built in 1924 and I have no idea how everything is connected.

There is a BHN junction box on the side of the house. I'd like to run a coax line to the rear detached garage apartment, which will be my office. We are also adding on a new 2nd story master suite and I will need a coax run to that. And finally, one of the bedrooms does not seem to have a TV run.

Does anyone know of anyone in the area who does this sort of thing?

Thanks!
Aaron

So I guess either:

1. nobody else has this problem?
2. you just run it yourself?
3. you just pay BHN to do it?

Over the last 7-8yrs I have had various new runs put in and I don't ever recall being charged anything extra for them. Call BHN and see what they say.

I just purchase a home myself. The home is just 8 years old. It had one RG6 to just three of the bedrooms and Cat 3 to the same room plus the kitchen.

I also just completed my own cable run. I ran six RG6 and three Cat5e to each of the 3 bedrooms plus the living room where the tv will be. The master bedroom has an 2 additional Cat5e to a different wall. I also have two RG6 and 3 Cat5e running into the garage. This will prepare me for any new services, Cable, Fios, etc.

I ran eight white RG6 cables for the outside of the home. All of the cables go into the master room closet.

Everything was very easy except for two rooms. The rooms where the cables were running between the drywall and the outside masonary. Thankfully there was no nothing in the rooms yet and the carpet, drywall will be replaced before we move in.

So my suggestion to you is to try to complete it yourself BEFORE you move in.

PROS: It inexpensive. You know what your getting.

CONS: Its time consuming.

I posted this last year when someone asked about running cable.

Found a card hanging on my front door from a company called Attic Rat Inc in Palm Harbor. It says they do cable jacks, computer jacks, business phones, Home Theater Sales and Service and Custom Cabling. Phone is 727-786-3741.
I have not had any dealings with this company, so I am not making a recommendation, just passing on information.

Thanks for the info guys. I had no idea BHN might do this for free. I'll call and see what they say. If not, maybe I'll give Attic Rat a call and see what they charge. Depending on their and BHN's answer, I may have to look into doing it myself.

Thanks!
