Just an FYI.

I have learned from much experience that both audio and picture drops on HD channels can be caused/exacerbated by poor connections - especially, in my case, with connections to a splitter.

Simply, if you've got a loose connection at a splitter in close proximity to your set - and I presume elsewhere - the problem could manifest itself as hard to diagnose a/v drops. On at least two occasions, the splitter behind my set has worked itself just a bit loose and I started having a/v drops ONLY WHEN WATCHING HD BROADCASTS and then only when watching certain channels.

I have no clue why this happens and perphaps those of you with better technical expertise can explain it. But, what I got were clear audio drops both with and without pixelization. Most recently it happened during game 5 of the Stanley Cup. Once I checked the splitter and tightened the input, the drops stopped.

I think this can also occur if you have a poor/defective splitter. I had a monster splitter that was apparently causing a problem. When I switched to a generic one from BHN, the problem went away - for the most part.

I still get occasional drops but it is clear that the loose connection can cause drops without causing any other noticeable problems.

The cable can cause the same kinds of problems......the one I had trouble with was actually a Monstercable brand coax cable too.....there were a couple of hd channels that would not work when using that cable, I still don't understand how it could have worked fine with all but a couple channels but thats what it did....I swapped cables back and forth a couple times and it was the same each time...one cable on it and the channels would work just fine, stick the monster cable back on and they would be blank.
