Game 7 in 2 hours and I have a very strange problem.
Live in Westchase with an atic installation and everything has been running great for 6 months, now this afternoon for some reason I have lost 28-1 and all of the PBS 3-? channels
I still have 8-1, and 13-1 which are being received on the same antenna pointing towards Riverview, as my problem channels. I am also recieving the analog channels of both ABC and PBS grainy but they are thier...FYI...never had great analog reception.
I am using a DirecTV Hughes HTL-HD Sat/ATSC receiver and it has been working great. I have rebuilt and searched for the channels and tried a manual programming but still getting NO SIGNAL on those 2 channels.
Any idea please feel free to give me a call 913-926-4317...Thanks

FYI: At 8:45p, 28-1 and 3-x all come in fine in Bradenton OTA. Could it have been the weather playin' tricks on you? Hope ya got it squared away in time....

Well it was a great win by the Lightning and unfortunately I had to watch the D* feed.
After a little more checking it seems that I have lost all of the channels from my Riverview antenna except for 8-1 & 13-1, No Signal on 3-x, 32-1, 38-1, 44-1...FYI...10-1 is on a seperate antenna
I went into the attic and checked the antenna and it was fine still tight, but I did try moving it around a little and I still could not get the channels in. I wish I had a Spectrum Analyzer so I could see if the frequencies are there at the reciever
At this point I think I am left with two possable problems 1) The receiver has a problem of some sort (most likely) 2) The diplexer in line is having some strange problem but never seen one act like this especially considering the freq. that are having the problem vs. the channel freq I am geting.
Still open to any other suggestions at this time....or I will be going to BB today to buy another receiver to give that a try.

Looks like you have lost your UHF capability. Connect the tuner input cable directly to the TV to test 28, 38, 44 and see if the UHF signals are still on the input cable. If so, then you might have a bad tuner. Did you try unplugging it?

mqd2win. Listen, I have the same receiver and not 3 weeks ago they sent an upgrade that allowed this reciever to show OTA ATSC signal strength. Hit your menu button and then systems info and then either ATSC Test or Current Signal Meter. Unfortunately there is no sound association with the signal strength so you'll have to use your wife or someone to stand there in front of the TV and yell it to you. Should solve your problem. If you can't get the signal stronger then I would lose the diplexer and run a dedicated line for the antenna and amplify it. This makes a huge difference. Good luck with getting the wife to stand in front of the TV.

DK....thanks for the info....yea I saw that there was now an ATSC signal strength meter on the Hughes and I did not remember seeing that when I first installed the unit in Dec....thought I just over looked it in the menues at the time.
Unfortunately I need to use the diplexer in my configuration...mostly because my house had all of the cable and sat cabling was installed in the walls when the house was built and the Mrs is not real thrilled about a cable on the outside of the house and coming through the wall. I am getting very good levels on 8-1 & 13-1 so I do not think it is a strength issue as I have a pretty big Channel Master Ant installed and only about a 50' run on RG6
Floyd...I think you hit on something with me losing all of the UHF channels, I never thought of that because I also lost channel 3-x...But upon further checking on antennaweb.org 3-x assigned frequency is actually OTA Ch 53...I think I might have had a Diplexer go bad blocking the UHF freqs.
At this time that is the only thing that makes sense
Thanks for all your help and ideas

So now you need to temporarily bypass the diplexer to see if that helps, and let us know. Good luck.
