(figures. First post and in the wrong forum.. Sorry).

While I know Fox is only SDTV in 16:9, how are others here getting audio?

I only see 2 channel, maybe 3..

Kinda annoys me when they say "Crank up your surround sound" when it is not even in 5.1. Or is it just me?

Thank in advance

Thank you!!!! I've thought the same thing every time they do that. I think I've read somewhere on here that Fox 13 is upgrading their audio but right now it lags behind 8, 10, and 28. Maybe someone can correct or update me on that.

Taken from Fox 13's web site about their programming:

During live sporting events, FOX WIDESCREEN's 16x9 digital widescreen panorama takes full advantage of the horizontal playing field to give fans an unmatched view of the game. Additionally, all events broadcast by Fox Sports in FOX WIDESCREEN are accompanied by Dolby Digital 5.1 audio. Viewers can enjoy the full sounds of the game, creating a much more intense and enveloping experience.

That would mean we should hear Nascar in 5.1 instead of the 2.1 my receiver is showing. Does anyone get 5.1 from Fox?

Thanks!

I was under the impression that Fox was not broadcasting in 720 HD until the fall?

You are correct Fox won't broadcast true 720p till this fall. No one knowes for sure what the first HD broadcast will be but at the very latest week 1 of the NFL.

Our local affiliate has never done 5.1 for whatever reason. I assume they don't have the equipment, and their new equipment used for doing HD isn't in use yet.
