Jim or someone else in Pinelllas, tell me if you are seeing this.

Something happened (this afternoon I believe) where all the sudden 605 (PBS-HD) and 690 (DiscoveryHD) have some type of copy restriction on them through the firewire on the SA 3250HD.

I can tell because watching the composite out on the DVHS these 2 - AND ONLY THESE TWO have squashed 16:9 screens.

If it were happening on all HD channels as it did when the boxes first came out, I could say its an issue with between the firwire 3250HD and the JVC 30k. But as Showtime and HBO and INHD and HDNET and ABC etc etc etc are all fine, this looks like something BHN has a flag set wrong (as WEDU .5 is fine OTA).

Bdraw, did you say you could see the settings somewhere in the diagnostic pages of the 3250?

On page 4 of 19 of the system info it says 605=Clear To Air and 700=Subscription.

Not sure if this helps. But I don't have any problem recording to the Mitsu.

I would try to reset the boxes and try again.

The Clear To Air and Subscription are not the coding on the IEEE 1394 (Copy Freely, Copy Once etc etc etc). Those are the designation if you have a QAM ATSC Tuner. You can pick up Clear To Air with a ATSC Tuner without the cable box - Subscription is the scrambled stuff you need decoder for.

I would think if it's only 2 channels showing this issue, it has to be something in the copy flag of those channels - if it was a box reset (of which I have done 3) - it should be a problem on all channels - I think.

Another thing which I believe, though not sure of, I am pretty sure there are several originaiton points for Brighthouse throughout the bay. Clearwater is Drew and 19 location. So Clearwater might be putting out a bad code from their Drew Street Plant on DiscoveryHD in this area and Tampa could be fine from their origination point.

It's a problem with the JVC 30k from ecost. Go figure. I wonder if the refurbished unit has the firmware upgrade and this is causing the issue where my other ones do not at this time.
