Did they get thier hdtv equipment in and now are transmitting the main fox upconvert? Or are they upconverting it them selves?

Everything right now is just locally upconverted from 480p to 720p during primetime since the source is 480p. All other times the source is 480i upconverted.
First broadcat in 720p from the source will be last week of August or first week in September.

That is true, but I have to say, the upconverted broadcast of Tru calling looked pretty damn good last night. I'm looking forward to the Yankees/Redsox broadcast tonight at 8. Hopefully it will look just as good. Thankfully I won't have to break off anymore bitchy emails to fox 13 anymore.

Well you did beat me on it. I can't believe I didn't find that first. Well no harm done. I'm wanting to check out the Yanks game as well to see what the upconvert will look like. Also will this game be in Fox widescreen or just 4x3.

I also had a heads up from the station from my contact so I had an advantage over all.

I'm speculating that the sox game will be in the widescreen format just as all of their other sporting events have been in the past. Tru-calling was in the 16:9 format last night as it had been in the past.

I don't seem to have the reception problems that many here talk about and I live on Clearwater Beach, which is way on fringe of Riverview getting a signal. Plus, living low behind the "ridge" of Clearwater that far away from Riverview really puts a hurt on an Analog signal.
Maybe it's the MyHD card tuner. But on good nights I can watch Ft. Myers and Orlando in HDTV.
That said, I have seen the Fox feed in Orlando and it looked MUCH better than what was on WTVT at the time.
I even recorded it to hard drive for comparison, but since erased it.
If/when you can pick up both, you can clearly see how bad WTVT looked at 480 in comparison.

Actually my signal meter looks the same but WTVT-DT locks in perfectly now without changing my antenna. I've noticed that before the switch to the new hardware that it would take about 2 to 3 seconds for the picture to come in and now it comes in instantly so I know that is a difference. Also my signal doesn't bottom out when using my surround receiver anymore so that makes me think it was them and not me. I really think that their old hardware was to blame for quite a bit of my problems.

WOFL upconverted the 480p to 1080i (they probably will be going 720p soon as well as the addition of Dolby Digital 5.1 audio).
