Well thanks to Jaymer I am now a part of the Tampa HDTV community...
He has helped me with setup issues - you can check my other thread for setup - but my question is this..
( ok multiple questions )
1. Watching CBS ( yes I was able to get it in Jaymer ) I get a signal strength of 60 - with a Tampa Special from Radio Shack with the all band pointing twoards Holiday. When they go to Chyron graphics they switch to 4:3 ( is this normal? - Maybe this is a Mark question )
2. Deffinatly a Mark question - today WFLA was broadcasting the race ( in EDTV? ) well there was a black bar on the left side of the screen but the rest was filled up - was that just me?
3. Does Fox ( WTVT send a callletter ID - all i get is 12-DT where the others send me WFLA-DT etc. )

Add 44 to that list - maybe its just because they aren't sending HD

1 If you are talking about the USopen today then yes. Usually CBS doesnt do this but the USopen seems to only have some parts in HD, I have never seen them or anyone else do this before the usopen. With the exception of the beginning of NYPD blue on ABC, they use the 4:3 intro even for the HDTV broadcast.
2. WFLA always does this. They call it 14:6 I think. If WFLA isnt broadcasting HDTV programing they upconvert the SDTV and cut the top and bottom of the picture up to fill more of the 16x9 screen. I actually like it, there news IMO has better PQ then the other local news shows.
3.No idea on this one. Maybe someone else can help
My whole screen was filled during the nascar race. I get WFLA-DT OTA and I agree that WFLA has the best PQ in low res.

US OPEN... Depends which court/match they are showing. I believe only Arthur Ashe and Stadium courts have the HD cams. When they go to other courts, yes, the broadcast is 4:3.
Anyone notice what WTSP did today???? Today is the first day I've ever gotten 5.1 Dolby on that station. Came on about 1pm today and has been on the duration of the US Open broadcast. Whoo Hoo!!!! Sounds great!

WFLA has been fine today... I have been having a real problem with WTSP dropping out since Friday. The US open was in and out... Anyone else? When the channel is locked I'm at 93% and then 2 minutes later it will drop out for 30 seconds.

Guess you and I could swap signals - my CBS was rock solid - thanks to Jaymer's suggestion of that 8 bay Channel Master.
BUT it is a bear to program.....
Picture 2 people on Nextel.
Beep beep - a little more to the left - Beep beep - a little more to the left- Perfect...... Bugger - no - Beep beep - back a bit to the right. Beep beep - Lock it there.... no wait it went down again.
I swear I would buy BHN if they had a LOCAL HD only package.
