I have directtv and OTA. Why is it that I get so much better reception on 12-1 than 13, xince they apparently don't broadcast in HD? That is equally true for other OTA stations even if the current broadcast is not HDTV. Help.

because the digital locals are broadcast in 480p (when it's not hd).
the analog is broadcast at 480i.

That and the fact that the reception on 12-1 is digital so its either perfect reception or none at all. Where as 13 is an analog broadcast and is prone to interference from just about everything.

What everyone else said and also that DirecTV channel 13 is being compressed as well while 12-1 isn't being compressed. Still DirecTV channel 13 is still way better than Bright House Networks channel 13. That is a no contest.
