For those of you who have had BHN and now have FIOS - how do you like the FIOS interface compared to BHN's?

By that I mean the menu to surf channels, the process for recording shows on the fly or by schedule, and to use the DVR.

If anyone out there has used both systems, I think it would be interesting to hear comments about the services - other than price - that might sway users one way or another.

I really have no complaints about BHN, have been with them for a long time, and they have pretty much done right by me with a few gripes of course. To me the reasons I'd go with Verizon are a substantial cost savings or some better features.

Generally here's what I'm thinking feature-wise is important to me:

- HD is king - who has more and is likely to add more in the future. Verizon has ESPN2 in HD I think.
- DVR - which is better quality recorder, who has better playback/recording features.
- Interface - what do I have to deal with everyday to watch TV.
- Music channels - I listen to them alot.
- Internet speed and mobile features.
- phone service - I'd prefer verizon.

Should be interesting - and now we have a choice. Always a nice bargaining tool.

I hope they have a way to remove channels from my guide list that I do not get or don't EVER watch.

Yes, you can remove channels that you don't watch. It's nice feature to have.

Well, let me answer my own question:

Cons:
- don't like the remote - buttons are too small. But it is functionally equivalent. The BHN remote (Atlas 5) WILL NOT accept the code for the motorola DVR. Very clever.

- #1 don't like the "guide" - a lot of wasted space compared to BHNs but it is functionally equivalent. It displays the picture in a tiny box that is difficult to watch while searching.

- the DVR box doesn't display the time when you are playing a taped show. That's a real pia.

- No pass thru option that I can find to pass the signal directly to the tv.

Pros:
- More HD channels in basic package.
- IMO better PQ on most channels.
- The DVR interface is much better than BHNs. It categorizes the shows available to watch making it much easier to use than BHN's chronological view. The options of what to do with the show when you begin watching and when you are done is more intuitive and easier to use.
- The DVR fastforwards and rewinds MUCH FASTER. Actually, it would be better if it had one more slower speed.

Otherwise, the changeover was pretty transparent and I like~!
