Well...Let me start by saying I didn't believe that a calibration would be "worth it". When I heard that Gregg was doing a tour I was tempted to sign up and take the jump. I kept putting it off...until last night when I emailed Gregg to inquire about the final available spot here in Tampa today. Even though he said it was available I decided to pass and wait until his tour in May. So I tossed and turned all night...thinking about not going for it...so in the morning I emailed Gregg again...got an appt for 4ish. Gregg arrives with many bags in hand...looked like he was staying for the week. He asks me what I want done to the set and he went to work. I'm not great on writing reviews so I'll keep it simple. If you were or are on the fence about getting your set ISF'd. DO IT! He did the "basic" calibration and calibrated greyscale for my dvd imput. 3 hours later, DVD looks awesome, HD looks even better and digital cable looks watchable(before it was difficult to watch). Gregg is a informed perfectionist and it benefits his clients. I wish I had more to say but I have to get back to watching tv!

Thanks Gregg!

I had mine done on Sunday also. Gregg did a great job. I liked the way my DLP set looked before he worked on it, and it's even better now, plus he motivated me (after I finally woke up) to reconnect my Gefen dvi switch after he left. Looks great now, plus Gregg has some cool toys.

Gregg gave me a nice printout with three graphs showing the before and after callibration values, and wrote the settings I might need again on the back of the paper. He actually carries a small printer with him.

Thanks for setting this up.

Hi all,

Poor Gregg will no doubt get tired of hearing us all sing his praises, but I’m happy to add my voice to the chorus of people saying, “Job well done!”

My first observation: It had been my intention to ask him to explain what he was doing as he went along, but once he was set up, I didn’t have to ask. Clearly he is perfectly willing to make sure his customers understand what he is doing, why he is doing it and what the benefits are. That in itself is great!

As far as the work goes, it’s my impression that it is both a science and an art. The adjustment of the grayscale stuff and color looks like a science for someone with a good command of the knowledge required, and Gregg clearly has that in spades.

But when it comes to correcting the geometry of the set, it may be more a matter of art. Again, Gregg showed himself as being up to the challenge. Gee, who know those lines could actually be STRAIGHT like that…? Obviously he did, as he displayed both the talent and knowledge to make it so.

Gregg, Dude, you got my vote! Thanks for the excellent work you did for me Sunday morning 2/22. I’ll be looking to have you visit again next year as you recommended.

In the meantime, I hope anyone who may be “sitting on the fence” about contracting your services does themselves a favor and goes through with it. I sincerely think they will be happy they did, and realize that it is money well spent...

- Joel :)

Gregg performed a calibration of my MITS 73711 yesterday (2/26/04).

I have relatives in now from Ohio, so I will report in a few weeks.

Gregg did a full calibration on my Sammy HLN 567w DLP just a week ago today. I use a Sammy T160 for D* set a t 720p run through DVI and for DVD I use a Sammy HD931 also set at 720P run through DVI. Both are connected via a Geffen DVI switcher. This made the calibration quite simple since the only input that needed to get calibrated was DVI. It took Gregg less than 1 1/2hrs to perform the entire calibration with source testing. We sat down and looked at a few DVD's. Immediately I could notice that the color's looked more natural and could see more detail on certain scene's that I hadn't noticed before. After that we switched to OTA HD. We made a slight adjustment to contrast and all looked very good. Over the last week I have watched everything from SD to HD to DVD's. My first thoughts during the beginning of the week was that the image was a little dim. This was not so much with DVD's but more with SD and some HD. During the daytime when the room is bright I have found that I have to bump the contrast just a bit. The rest of the time I retured back to the origional setting to give it time to set in. As the day's went on I have noticed just how natural the image looks :D I realize how bright my display was origionally set and how oversaterated the colors were. The PQ now looks much more film like in quality. The overall PQ has more of a 3D quality and looks more like looking out the window than at a display screen. What a difference now when I go into my bedroom and now look at my Pioneer Plasma 503cmx display. I feel like I need sunglass's now in the bedroom..lol. I haven't had time but I can see that I need to make some changes on the Pio. I may also have to have Gregg calibrate that display on his next trip.
