Wow, that is kinda cool, another channel. I have to admit I have never heard of the Movie King David. 24 hours of HDTV is always welcome, but I hope there is alot of worthwhile programming that comes with it.

Here is a link to what is on INHD

The faq from http://www.inhd.com/faq.html included below makes me think there will be a charge.

INHD AND MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL REACH HIGH DEFINITION BROADCAST AGREEMENT

Live MLB Broadcasts In HD Begin Week of September 15th With Launch of INHD

New York, August 27, 2003 - INHD, iN DEMAND's new 24-hour linear high definition network, and Major League Baseball (MLB), have reached a multi-year agreement to broadcast MLB games in high definition on INHD. INHD will debut on Monday, September 15th, and broadcasts of Major League Baseball games in high definition will begin that same week.

As part of the broadcast agreement, which will run through 2005, INHD will televise approximately three live games per week for the remainder of the 2003 Major League Baseball regular season. In 2004 and 2005, INHD will continue high definition broadcasts of approximately three regular season games per week.

The premiere telecast of MLB on INHD will feature the New York Yankees vs. the Baltimore Orioles from Oriole Park at Camden Yards on Tuesday, September 16th at 7:00 PPM ET.

The MLB on INHD games will be available on an out-of-market basis wherever INHD is carried by cable operators; viewers must reside outside of the competing teams' territorial broadcast areas to see the MLB on INHD high definition telecasts.

"Our multi-year agreement with Major League Baseball demonstrates INHD's commitment to the future of the high definition format," said Rob Jacobson, Chief Operating Officer, iN DEMAND. "A premier sport such as MLB - combined with our previous sports rights deals for college sports and professional tennis - give us a potent sports lineup for our launch and beyond."

"We are very excited to partner with INHD and increase the number of high definition Major League Baseball broadcasts available to our fans,” said Tim Brosnan, Executive Vice President, Business, Major League Baseball. IN DEMAND has been an exceptional business partner and we look forward to taking our game to the next level with high definition broadcasts on INHD."

MLB on INHD games will be available in wide-screen, high-resolution format and also will feature Dolby Digital 5.1 audio when available. While the audio is equivalent to most DVD's, the picture quality of the INHD broadcast is superior.

INHD is the new 24-hour HD linear television network owned and operated by iN DEMAND. In addition to MLB, INHD will also feature HD telecasts of college sports - including college football, basketball and hockey -- and professional tennis, as well as movies and other entertainment programming. Further information on INHD can be found at www.INHD.com.

Just a quick FYI. Just noticed that the new INHD on BHN 640 is showing the USA feed of the US OPEN. It is in 4:3 EDTV.

*edit* @ 7:40 pm, I just realized that this is a tape due to a rain delay. They switched back to LIVE and it was in 1080i HD. Beautiful.

Also if they are not on the main court it will be in 4:3. When it was on CBS they put graphics in rather then black bars. CBS was also in 5.1 rather then 2.0

That happens to me sometimes, I don't get a channel, the guide is there but the screen is just black. I unplug my box for about 2 mins and then plug it back in, takes a long time for it to turn back on. But when it does I get all the channels again. It is worth shot if you haven't tried it already.

INHD is In Demand High Def. Same thing.

It is currently free, but I don't think it will be for long. I think it's HD Pay per View. (Just like the non-HD InDemand channels on other cable networks.)

Pay-per-view makes perfect sense. INHD and INHD2 will be up and running 09/15/03 and CDB-HD and ESPN-HD will still be "coming soon". Nice to see that BHN has the priorities straight.

I wouldn't blame CBS or ESPN on BHN. Look for one HDTV plan with ESPNHD that doesnt charge extra for it. I have been looking and I don't think it exsists. I think ESPNHD asked for some money, and BHN refused to pass the costs onto us. Atleast they are sticking up for us. My bill is high enough. As far as CBS is concerned the issue has always been the cable companies not wanting to pass the full HDTV signal through. This is deffinitly BHN fault. You can thank CBS for standing up to them. Or course this is mostly info I have obtained through the news and AVS so who knowes if it is correct.

INHD and INHD2 are not pay-per-view. These are normal cable channels. This has been covered quite a bit on the AVSForum. Given the ownership of the channels, there often is confusion about this but these channels are not pay-per-view. I read somewhere that INHD is trying to reference its ownership as little as possible to help people understand that these channels are not pay-per-view.

Just called again at 8:45 am Tues. CSR said that these are just test channels and someday they will have programming. Said he just heard about this problem. LuZZo
09-16-2003, 10:58 AM
Talked with a CSR..had never heard of anything, started telling me that some day they will offer In Demand PPV in HD. I explained to her that there is a new channel that had been running a preview daily for about 3 weeks, and it officially launched yesterday. I told her to checkout www.inhd.com and see BHN as one of the three cable providers, and they are there on channels 640/641.

She then checked the computer and told me that it says a new HD tier will launch Oct. 7. She said that INHD/INHD2 will be the only channel on this tier. So then I told her that it has launched on several other companies around the country. She had no answers as to whay BHN was lagging behind so badly. I really hope that Oct. 7 is a just an extremely conservative estimate.

All in all she was helpful and said she would give me a call back when they have some more info.

Does anyone know if this is merely a problem with our local BHN division? (Has any BHN division launched this network on time?)

VERY disappointing BHN!

From the many posts over at avs, comcast seems to be the main cable company that is showing INHD and INHD2. No definate word with TW or BHN. I'm curious to see if them putting the two channels into its own tier means they will charge for it. There are some comcast users that I've heard mentioning that they receive the two INHD channels along with Discovery HD and ESPNHD for around 10 dollars a month. Nothing like paying more money for supposedly "free" channels! Maybe they'll throw in HDnet for an additional 10.95 a month!

Dusty Rhodes and a bull rope match?
How can this old wrestling show be in HD???
Or why would a new taped show with no name wrestlers be filmed in HD???
With all the money wrestling makes now you would think pay for view would be HD.
But if you like to watch wrestling this is the channel to watch as the picture is as good as the Discover Channel Thanks and sorry for so many post just keep thinking of little things to add Jerry

Not sure if you guys are still keeping tabs on AVS since this site has really taken off (Thanks Jaymer!) but Greg of Brighthouse in Orlando had an interesting post the other day. Thought I would copy it here:

On that note, I have other good news...on October 14th, BHN in Central Florida will launch our new HD Tier. Initially, it will be comprised of INHD and INHD2, inDemand's new high definition channels and will be carried on channels 1300 and 1301. You'll have to call us to add the service, which will only cost an additional $6.00 per month.

In addition, WRBW's digital signal will be added to the lineup as well (not part of the tier) on channel 1165. While UPN is a bit weak on HD content right now, hopefully they'll get stronger in time.

The good news is that the launch of an HD tier provides us a vehicle to get some additional deals done for content that the programmers would only allow to be sold in a tier. While this is just a start, you'll see more coming.

Not sure how this will all impact us here in Tampa, but interesting food for thought from a guy on the "inside". There is also a guy over on AVS saying that he talked to "someone at BH" and they said the ESPN-HD should be worked out in 2 weeks.

Not holding my breath in Tampa,
weavermd.

BHN not coming to some kind of agreement with WTSP and WFLA is just plain unacceptable. First, you have subscribers (which I am not one) paying a good amount of money for the additional digital tier and receivers. Then, these same people are spending hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars on HD monitors and they can't even watch the new fall season on CBS and NBC. So you get Discovery HD... big deal. Fox isn't even in true HD so that leaves you with ABC. This kind of service and management reminds me of the dispute over Sunshine earlier this year. For those who didn't leave BHN over that mess I sure hope are taking note of this. Bottom line is the management at BHN doesn't seem to have the customer in mind when providing the service. Priority #1 should be WTSP and WFLA followed by ESPN-HD. What are the most watched networks? Discovery? PBS? INHD? No. THE NATIONAL PRIME TIME NETWORKS. And why WTSP and WFLA aren't running some kind of campaign to force BHN's hand over this I don't know. These stations have got to be getting calls all the time over the situation and if I worked there I'd want it resolved.
