Pace STB in Bypass - 480p?

The manual for the DC-550p states that when BYPASS is enabled for component video and digital audio that the video is converted to 480p. Has anyone found this to be true? My TV always says it's got 480i from my non-progressive DVD player.

Another question: Would I really care/see a difference between a 480i signal from my DVD vs. one converted to 480p by the Pace box?

What page of the manual says Bypass will upconvert to 480p?

If it is page 16, I believe they mean for cable TV output on DVI not component and not loopthroughed DVDs.

Thoughts?

Yah know, after re-reading it again I believe you are correct. I think I was confusing the PASS and BYPASS functions. It's more logical that the box would not upconvert the 480i DVD signal.
