Just about to watch the SOTU address and was surprised that it is in HD. Been switching between CBS & ABC. Picture between the 2 seems pretty close but it really shows how FOX isn't even close.

I was wonderinf iof this is the first SOTU address to be broadcast in HD?

The first thing I did when the address started was to scan to see what the various channels looked like. On my system, I think CBS had a small edge over NBC and ABC, and the audio was a bit louder.
I noticed a glitch when the president first started speaking, and there was a few seconds of black screen (with audio), then a regular def picture(the backup?) came back on for about 10-15 seconds, then the HD picture clicked back on.

I too preferred CBS. I didn't see the glitch but it may have happened while I was channel surfing.

CBS's HD always seems to look just a little better than NBC and ABC.

However, the only problem with the HD broadcast was when they had the Democratic response. I'm sure she is a great politician, but Nancy Pelosi should NOT be seen in HD. 8O HD really showed just how tight her skin has been stretched. :wink:

interesting indeed to compare channels. on my 720p tv, using a 720p output on my STB, the clear winner for quality was, of course, ABC, 720p. Makes me look even more forward to next year's Bucs games on FOX in 720p. Too bad I absolutely never watch any thing else on ABC or FOX.
