Has anyone done an A/B comparrison with normal ( $500 ) units?

Something like a Kenwood or Sony - is it better to let the TV do it ?

I am a PRONTO-phile so its hard to think about having to manually switch inputs on my TV all the time ( as my Pany doesn't have seperate AV-1, 2 3 inputs )

I use an Onkyo SR600 to do it. The best way to go is to let the TV do it, but most TVs only have one HD-compatible component input. I have two HD signals, my TV has only one HD component input, so I needed to do the switching externally.

I have not seen any negative affect from the switcher. And I look pretty close.

BTW, my TV does not have discrete buttons for the inputs either. But, after some searching around the internet, I found that there was a secret code that, once entered into the remote, allowed me to map each input to a number button. That kind of feature might be available for your TV, too.

Technically, you need about 30MHz bandwidth on the receiver's component inputs to do HD switching. However, for reasons not worth going into here, you should aim at around 40MHz. These numbers are always listed in the specs for receivers.

thanks for the info - I will look - my pnay does have 2 componet and 1 DVI input - BUT..... unless I can find descreet codes - the me getting up to switch won't last TOOO LONG...

Lets see 1 SVIDEO ( TIVO/DISH1)
1 Component ( DVD )
1 Componet or dvi ( HD DISH/ 8VSB card )

2 turtle doves and me with no DOUBLE-YOU VEEEEE - I am determined to get the WB from Orlando - I may go and find a TUNED antenna for just that channel and mount it and seee what kind of Joy I get.
