Why the pace box?

Has everyone switched over to the pace box? I still have a 3100 box. Can some tell me the advantage of the pace box? Or the disadvantage?

main advantage is it allows aspect ratio control...it also has a passthrough for the component,composite,digital audio and analog audio connections which i am using on both of mine.

It also has a DVI output.

I found so far the biggest advantage to be you only need one video connection to the HDTV and one audio connection to the audio receiver. This allows a significant ease in operation compared to the SA3100HD STB. Using the zoom feature allows one to get a full 4:3 picture if you have a 4:3 set like I do. I just got the Pace box yesterday so I limited experience compared to others here.

So does that mean I can get a the full screen 4:3 HD image on my bargain 4:3 RP-HDTV when the HD source is only 4:3 to begin with? I hate having bars on all 4 sides...

???...that was similiar to the problem I had on my 4:3 rptv with the SA hd cable box (verticly stretched hd filling the screen and sd was verticly stretched but had letterbox's on the sides) ...the pace box worked fine though.

when your watching hd material it should have letterbox's on the top and bottom on a 4:3 set by the way...you don't want it stretched or zoomed to fill the screen....sd material should fill the screen though with no letterbox's.

To control the Aspect and the menu of the Pace BOX the remote needs to have a (#) under the 9 button

1.st press the # for about 5 sec a menu will appear ...Use the arrows surrounding the select key to maneuver and the select button acts like an enter button, set it for what ever setup you have EJ 1080 16:9 or 1080 4:3 some of you may want to set it for pass 16:9 or pass 4:3....
