A friend of mine finally joined the HD world via BHN, and got a pace box. The guide system is really cool compared to the Dish 6000!

One problem though, we've found that if you open the fullscreen guide while watching an HD channel, sometimes while scrolling or closing the guide, the box will show a grid of white lines across the 4x3 area where the guide was/should be. The only way we found to get rid of it is to unplug the box and wait for the very long booting.

Is anyone else seeing this? I'm not familiar with how firmware updates work, are they automagic with BHN as well? Or do they have to be hit? Or does he just have a bum box?

I've had the same problem. The only way to get rid of it was to unplug the Pace box and plug it back in. If there's a fix for this, please let us know.

wow 8O ...dishnetworks guide must REALLY suck then because I thought the BHN guide was horrible...I switched to bhn from direc tv...BHN's guide looks primitive compared to the direct tv guide my Sony reciever had and it is not very user friendly...you can't even have a favorites list that can be used easily.

I've never seen the problem you describe on either of my pace boxes though?...maybe yours is broken?

I'm inclined to believe its a bum unit as well, but was curious if anyone else was dealing with the problem. It happened three times the night I was over there so it seems like it would be easily noticed by others on the board.

An aspect of the guide that I liked over my Dish 6000 is that while browsing while watching something (using the overlay at the bottom), you can scroll to see more than just the next show, and can also scroll back to see the last show, thought that was kinda spiffy. The EPG has received an overhaul for the 811 and 921, though I haven't played with them personally.

I've not seen this problem either. I use the guide all the time, both in SD and HD.

Ok, thanks for the responses! I'll let him know he should work on getting a replacement unit.
