View Full Version : TiVo - Tuning Adapter question

I have a TiVo HD XL with a Multi-Stream CableCARD and Cisco Tuning Adapter and am not receiving the SDV channels. The CableCARD is working by itself and am receiving HD channels (just no SDV). A Brighthouse technician at my house for ~ 4 hours today and he couldn't solve the issue, we rebooted the TiVo and TA multiple times, swapped TA and CableCARDs, verified the CableCARD # and Host ID with BHN with no luck. At the end I even called TiVO support and put him on the phone with BHN to see if they had any advice. The BHN technician even checked with an engineer and told me that everything is working on BrightHouse's side and the problem must be with my TiVo.

I am convinced the issue is with BHN but am not sure how to verify the TiVo is operating properly. 3 questions - is there a document with the correct parameters for the CableCARD diagnostic screens? What should the TA diagnostic screen show? (mine currently is blank) does anyone have recommendations for getting past BHN's tier 1 support to tier 2 or engineering?

how long has the cablecard and adapter been installed?

it can sometimes take half a day for the card's mac to be populated into your service group and authorize sdv.

swapping it out just makes it take longer. probably been what, half a day now? and still no dice?

It has been over a day now, I just spent another hour on the phone with TiVo customer service making sure the TiVo is working correctly. 2 strange things - there is no info in my Tuning Adapter diagnostic screen and the TiVo does not recognize when I unplug and plug in the TA USB cable. Any advice on what I should ask BHN when I speak with them next?

For what it's worth this combination of equipment does work meaning from BHN. I know of several people with your installation who have no problems. I'm not a Tivo expert..wish I could give you advice at that end but don't give up.
