DirecTV promised to add a number olf HD channels this month and I was pleasantly surprised to wake up to MSNBC in 1080.:eek:
Of the channels I watch, DTV has more HD selections than Dish and cable and to say I'm glad I switched back is an understatement. :D:D

It'll be a little while for the rest of the announced 30. Have you heard about the repairs to D10? They moved a bunch of stuff to D12 while they fix it, delaying the other new HD. But this is a start.

Haven't heard anything but my switch back to DTV has already made me giddy. As I have always maintained, I don't mind spending a little extra to get what I want. DTV's pic quality is second to none, their customer service is excellent AND the programming selection (especially HD) beats Dish and cable.
MSNBC is just one (ESPNU is a nice addition too) and a few more movie channels going hi-def makes me believe it won't be long before everyone will have their pics in 720 or 1080. :D

I see Travel Channel is in HD, and DTV has Hallmark Movie Channel HD now.

It is nice to see DTV adding regular and premium HD channels.
Everyone still has a ways to go on HD but DTV fills some holes with this updates and continues to have some momentum on the HD front.

Yeah, but very little HBO and Max in HD... no HBO Comedy at all... no Signature or Family in HD... only the flagship Max in HD and moremax in SD... none of the others... they are doing well with the Showtimes and Starz/Encore though
Still longing for AMC HD for Breaking Bad and Mad Men.

The reason for that is HBO and Max are both owned by Time Warner aka the cable co.

There are some stations I still miss in HD like E!, ID and a couple of three others but for the most part I am sooooooo very glad I went back to DTV. The fact they have 3D programming makes me want to get a 3D TV especially after seeing it first hand at Best Buy today. :D

Irrelevant. FIOS competes directly with Time Warner Cable and they carry all 26 HD channnels.
Dish has more HBO/MAX HD channels than DirecTV.
It is really irrelevant that TW owns HBO/MAX. If DirecTV wanted all 26 they could EASILY negotiate a deal to carry them all. It is DirecTV being stupid.

Today DTV swapped a couple of ESPN channels dropping ESPNU (in HD) to the 200 tier with the rest of the HD ESPN channels and shifted ESPN Classic (in SD) to the 600's. A good move.:-D
