just saw an ad which shows the following new HD channels:

BET TV 1234
VH1 HD 1306
CMT HD 1314
Comedy Central HD 1292
MTV HD 1301
Nickelodeon HD 1102
Spkie HD 1285

Don't have any of them active yet though

Longhorn said they would debut Jan 18.

Since there is an ad, it should be no more than a month before you guys have the Viacom HD suite.

From What I understand, Spike, Comedy Central and Nick have a good amount of HD content while the other 4 do not.

So does that mean Pasco County will finally get a 24-hour VH1 channel? We've had to share a channel with C-SPAN2 since the dawn of time, during the 8p-8a period that sees very little music actually being played, unless you're awake at 4:00am.

...or will they make us wait for C-SPAN2 HD to debut?

Anyone else think it'll take 3 weeks to get all these channels onto the guide?

They usually have the legal notices a month in advance although longhorn reported these as launching on Jan 18 or 19.

These new channels from what I've heard and still planned to launch today. For those of you in Orlando I have no idea if your going to get them as I can only verify the Tampa Bay market. The Tampa Bay market very rarely gives a public notice (newspaper etc) of new channel additions "before" they launch them. Also like in the past with the Tampa Bay market I wouldn't expect the channels to go live until closer to noon compared to midnight. I'd say around 8-10am would be a pretty good guess for when most boxes will be able to tune these new channels.

I've been busy today but I'm looking into why the channels haven't launched. Last I've heard is they have been delayed for technical reasons. Maybe we will see them within the next 24 hours or so with some luck.

I would guess next month as cable co's usually announce a month in advance.

You guys are also in Tampa where they have botched launches.

Yup I was shocked when they didn't launch but I did get it confirmed that the launch got delayed for technical reasons that would be fixed within one day or at least they hoped so.

Well I'm glad my contacts were correct and I hope everybody enjoys all of these new HD additions.

Congrats to all of you.

I hope Orlando gets them soon.

Tell me about the HD content on each channel. Do the 4 music ones have little while Spike, Nick and Central have a lot?

yup

they are live however, why arent they in the 7 hundreds?

I think the 700's are on the verge of being phased-out. With room in the 1000's thanks to Navigator, the channels seem to be better organized up there. I wouldn't be surprised if the 700's disappeared at some point in the near future.

I'm also noticing that all scheduled recordings on HD channels, are using the new channel numbers, even if I had originally scheduled the program on an old number. Search results are also referring to the new numbers.

All HD boxes have been updated to Navigator by this point, right?

I think other BHN systems are also moving their HD channels to the 1000's so they prob are being fazed out.

Our only HD outside of 1000's is the main HBO and Showtime HD channels and Adult HD OD.

We have always had our HD in the 1000's though.

I'm happy you guys have the Viacom HD suite. It really makes BHN match up even better to DTV and the other providers.

Does anyone know the status of The Weather Channel in HD for BHN?

I like the way DTV and Dish have their channel lineups, not so much because there is a block of news or shopping but because each SD station has its HD counterpart right next to them instead of up the dial in another section. With so many stations still in SD the constant bouncing back from low to high numbers was a bit much.

Another thing I like is if you know the station you want, like Channel 13, the box goes directly to the HD version. No stations in the 1,000's.

BMW: Time Warner has a deal with the Weather channel and half of the Bright House affiliates have piggybacked on it.

I think they were up for carriage renewal like the Fox stations were so maybe that slowed down the weather channel appearing on BHN systems.

It stuns me we do not have this. Even small town systems that have very few HD channels seem to have this.

Roger: I do prefer the way Dish, DTV and other non-cable providers group the channels. No doubt about that.

i agree with you about how the dtv box take you directly to hd ch hope BHN do something like that or have where you can hide the SD CH and just show HD ch in the guide :)
