It looks like the Lightning will be in HD quite often this season.

Did they make a release about how many games will be in HD?

Yeah.... I noticed this a week or two ago while printing the season's schedule. I won't be happy until all games are in HD like the NFL has.

I counted like 46 or 52 HD games on Sun alone. That's a big spike I believe from last year.
Weren't only like 20 in HD last year?
I'm with you though on all games being in HD. This is a very encouraging development though and us getting the seperate 24/7 feeds in Orlando might be a sign they will be produicing more HD content.

I spoke to a Sun/FSN exec during the baseball season and they expect to be 100% HD (games) when the Rays roll in for 2010. It's been a slotting issue up on the the bird in the past but those will be resolved by many sports outlets in the near future.
Funny thing you bring up the Lightning in HD. I watched a doubleheader on NHL Network and the first game, done by Comcast Sports, had a pretty good high-def pic but once the second game came on it was like "Oh !#$%^&" because it popped off the screen. The game was carried by CBC.

The Rockies have all 150 of their local games in HD.
I'd expect other teams to follow soon.
The fact that the Lightning are getting a huge increase after such a bad year, is an encouraging sign and a possible factor in why we are getting the 24/7 feeds here in Orlando.
I cannot wait to see how many games the Magic get in HD this year. Hopefully all of them or pretty darn close to it.

Yes, it is a huge spike from years past. I am currently with DIrecTV only (waiting for FIOS still at my new house). We have the 24/7 HD feed, which only means there is no forgetting of turning on the switch. The games you get only in SD are still in SD on the HD channel, as you know.
Eventually all sports will have all games in HD. Obviously football was first and baseball is almost there. Hockey will get there soon. I appreciate the big jump this year from last. We are getting there.

Ballpark 25 HDs for the Bolts.
The Rocks are johnny-come-latelys when it comes to having so many games in HD. The YES Network broadcast every game that way and I believe SNY did that from the time it launched. I also think NESN does all their's that way too.
Regardless how many games RSNs and OTAs show now, it won't be long before all sports will be that way, so long as local OTAs are broadcasting that way.
I was amazed how many college football games there were Saturday in SD.

46 Lightning Games in HD. That's pretty good. I might even tune into some.
There are also others on Versus and they did not list the 6 on your CW affiliate. Not sure why they list TSN as none of us can get the channel I believe.
Is this the first year they are doing this with the CW? If so, it might be possible they will try to sell those games to prehaps our ION affiliate.

TSN is the Canadian equivalent to ESPN. Unless you've got a satellite dish from up there, then no, you won't get it.
They're probably just trying to demonstrate that they have HD coverage...somewhere.

Could also be for the die-hard hockey canadians.
I'm just glad the Lightning are getting this boost in HD games so we can get to the point where all sports is in HD.
