Had DirecTV, went back to BHN (horrible move considering lack of HD availability and 1080p, no NFL Network or HDNet/Movies) but am going to try out Dish Network for 2 years. Good deal for nearly everything.

I won't get MLB Network but you have to give up something to get something while sav ing a few $$$. I'll miss it a little.

But I do get back my regional sports nets including some DTV didn't have so there will be plenty of college pigskin, minor league baseball, etc.

One thing that made this deal enticing is I get BOTH my HD boxes without having to buy and rent.

I'll let you know what I think as we go along but I don't expect it to be much different from DTV - except cheaper. :D

Did they put in their "Turbo HD" dish or the Superdish?

Turbo. And the picture is as good if not better (some stations) than DTV.

I love the guide, the HD stations next to the SD stations, the simple favorite station setup (many different for individual family preferences) where when I press the UP button it skips over the stations I could care less about. BHN had it on a FAV button, Dish has it on the UP/DOWN key, much more convenient.

Also had the HD-DVR in my office and the HD Receiver in living room at ..... NO CHARGE.

One thing I hated about BHN's DVR is the clock for recordings where they always seemed to cut off the end of the show. Their clock was about a minute off. The Dish recordings ALWAYS begin one minute early and two late so you don't lose any of the show.

If you want to record to a basic DVD Recorder you can simply pause it where you want and activate it as soon as the recorder begins.

My DTV pointed to southern sky, Dish to south-east so that is a big difference if you live in a condo. I would say it is about a 35-40 degree difference to the left and because it was that way my dish is much lower on my patio than the DTV.

I've had it less than 24 hours and I am giddy. I am lucky to have been able to try all three programming choices and while DTV has the NFL PPV, I still get the NFL Network (BHN nada). MSNBC and ESPN look fabulous in HD. I'll miss MLB Net an d Extra Innings but maybe that will change by next spring.

I'm pleased to say the least.

I have to check up on this picture quality thing. I'll admit BH has poor picture on some things.

If I went satelite, it would be DTV due to the disputes Dish has (MLB Network, YES Network, etc.).

I like the YES Network but can live without it. MLB is another thing. I would like to get MLB Network and MLBEI but again, I went to Dish for a number of reasons, price being one, the picture another.

I had DTV and their pic was no better than Dish and with Dish they have VOD 1080p PLUS reports they will be the first to launch live 1080p.

In addition, I dropped BHN because of no NFL Network (those Thursday games are a nice addition to the sports TV landscape) and the battle with Mark Cuban over HDNet and HDNet Movies got on my nerves. The United Football League will be television certain games on HDNet and that was all I needed to know.

Right now I am getting about 98% of what is on DTV at about 75% the cost and I am getting the new 1080p box on Friday.

If not getting YES and MLB is all I have to worry about, I am in good hands with Dish.
