View Full Version : NCAA OTA Coverage in Tampa

I've recently moved to Tampa, and have a question regarding the local CBS affiliate (channel 10) and their coverage of the NCAA tournament.

In Milwaukee (where I was previously), the local CBS channel would set up 3 subchannels for the tournament - and show the "prime" game in HD, and the remaining 3 (or more if overall) games that were being played at the same time on the 3 subchannels.

I'm guessing this is normal practice for all CBS stations - to increase market share and ad revenue.

Does anyone know if Tampa CBS-10 is doing this also?

Probably not. Our CBS station only runs one sub-channel, and it's 24-hour weather. I looked at the WTSP site, and they make no mention of it.

No. They will not be doing this.

And welcome to the forum.

Channel 10 cannot run their 1 HD Digital channel correctly, so they would never know where to start running 3 sub-channels.

it's too bad that they don't do this here.... i guess that makes is 1 reason that living in Milwaukee is better than living in Tampa. Of course, that is the only one I found so far.... :D

I'm glad they don't do that here.

And I would have to disagree with that statement due to the fact that the HD channel would look HORRIBLE if they did the same thing with 3 sub-channels. So in my opinion living here in Tampa is alot better than Milwaukee or any other place that runs 3 sub-channels.

I was joking - looking for reasons to live in Milw is tough...although I'll admit during May-Sept the weather is nicer in Milw - not as hot....

And, the CBS channel in Milw had NO problem airing an HD game and 3 non HD games at the same time - although admittedly the non-HD games looked soft, but the HD game always looked good. It was nice to have the option to see any of the games though.

You'll get used to it. You will start thinking that 70 is cold and wearing a coat like the rest of us. You will realize that Aug-Sept are the "hot" months and the reason we live here is for the Oct - June weather!

Welcome to the area.

Considering when I lived there for 6 weeks in the time frame you listed - and needed an electric blanket the last week of August, I'll pass.....
