Just got a popcorn delivered this morning. With the day off I am going to hook it up. I have all my DVD's ripped to my Windows Home Server and am going to attempt to have the popcorn access them.
Will update you with my progress!

I have one here too and it works decent. So much easier for the wife to use than what I had before. Best thing I ever did was put the kids movies on the server. We always had dvds laying all over the place from them.

OK. Got the popcorn hour working and so far it has played any file type I have thrown out it. And they all look fantastic.
The best part is I downloaded PlayOn for my Windows Home Server and now I can access Hulu and a bunch of other sites via the popcorn hour. I tell you I am about 75% of the way towards not needing cable! The hulu and other streams are not HD, but they look pretty damn good and PlayOn says HD is coming in the future.

I hope the $30 I paid for playon wasn't wasted. Hulu recently made boxee remove Hulu from thier software. Apparenlty it made it to easy to watch the shows on your TV. Pfft..

Next they'll make like the RIAA and start going after people who simply connect their laptop computer to their TV and play video from Hulu....

These people have no clue. This is all stuff that was freely broadcast protection free. I could go download it if I wanted to ad free. But, Hulu makes it easy to watch AND they have ads. I will watch the three or 4 30 second ads for a Hulu 1 hours (42 min) show.
Also, there are many shows, especially CBS that they only have last weeks show on for a short time. Like the Unit. I had missed a few and only the last weeks was on Hulu... the rest were just clips. LAME! I revved up my bit torent client and got them elsewhere, ad free.
Then they have stuff like Firefly... I watched the whole season once I found out about it... Hulu ads and all. This seems a great way to monetize back catalog. Much better than DVD sales.

OK, please excuse my ignorance but what the hell are you talking about? What is popcorn (of course, other than POPCORN)!

I think boxee and playon go about the same results using different methods. Not sure PlayOn will be cut off the way boxee was.
Anyways, everything is working perfect. Only problem is the PlayOn server seems to need to be reset after every show! definetly a bug that needs to be worked out.
Considering ordering a second popcorn hour for the bedroom!
