HHGregg is apparently coming into Tampa now that Circuit City is leaving. From my limited experience with HHGregg in some other markets, their prices seem to be lower than Circuit City and Best Buy.

Cool! It'd be nice to have some new competition in the market.

Anyone know when they are supposed to be opening? I noticed they have the storefront in Tampa Palms and now also in Brandon where Circuit City used to be.

HHGregg is a "cash and carry" store like Best Buy or the old Circuit City. HHGregg has sales people on commission, and they love to haggle with the prices as long as you buy their worthless extended warranties. That is the way the run their stores in the midwest, and I suspect they will operate the same way in Florida.

If I had a choice, I would rather see Frys move into this market.

HHGregg will add some needed competition to Best Buy in the area, but I really doubt that I would purchase anything from them.

I would also love having a Fry's around Tampa Bay. Now my family up north has said that HHGregg isn't a very good company and they had a washer and dryer that had an extended warranty they refused to honor which resulted in HHGregg having to be sued in small claims court. It seems they didn't even show up and contest it so keep that in mind. Also one other family member of mine got their financing offer with no interest for 3 years if you paid it off before and after paying it off three months before the three year mark came up they charged my family member 300+ dollars in interest on the 37th statement. Well she didn't pay it and they sent the account to collections until she contacted the credit agencies and requested a debt validation letter. As you would guess the debt was taken off, credit was restored and the account was closed because of creditor fraud. This was how it was reported on her credit report.

Also this company has an F rating with the Better Business so again if it was me I wouldn't shop at this store in a million years. I'm just hoping for the Tampa Bay Area's sake these locations are going to be far better and won't be run like the other locations.
