From the Orlando Sentinel article (http://www.orlandosentinel.com/entertainment/tv/orl-tv1508dec15,0,1667204.story).

...it will be available only in parts of Central Florida where AT&T's local phone service is offered, such as Orlando, Altamonte Springs and DeBary. And initially, the service will only be available in part of that territory.

Aren't a lot of the suburbs toward Seminole County still serviced by Embarq? I lived there many years ago (When it was still United Telephone), and I remember that the service area maps were almost like Swiss cheese...the local provider seemed to change from one exchange to the next. If that's the case, it could leave some people very frustrated, especially because Embarq doesn't really seem to be at the forefront of much.

The Tampa area is exclusively Verizon (except NE Pasco and points north), so FiOS availability is only limited by Verizon's own construction plans.

Speaking of points north, much of Hernando County (Spring Hill/Brooksville) is serviced by AT&T. Does anyone know if there are plans to roll out U-Verse up there, or is it too small and too isolated of a market for them to bother?

I live in the longwood area of Seminole County.

We got a thing in the mail and tried to switch to their phone service but they told us embarq had the area totally covered.

I live in Winter Springs (Tuscawilla). They have been digging up the neigborhood this month to provide U-verse. Nothing in the mail yet and my address still shows as not available on the AT&T website.
