I got a notice in the mail today from Verizon saying that the changes will take effect 10/2/08.

Those notices were mailed out before the date change.

What I want to know is about the ESPN HD channels. Verizon currently shows ESPNU HD on 848. The new channel guide does not list ESPNU HD, but it lists ESPNNews HD.

Are they going to continue to carry ESPNU HD?

Honestly, if I had to choose between the two channels, ESPNU HD would win hands down.

The deal with ESPNU probably wasn't done at the time of the printing and would've tipped the negotiations in ESPN's favor if FiOS included it before the deal done.

It would be very surprising if ESPNU wasn't still in the lineup after the re-alignment.
