Meet and Greet - Thursday, June 5th

Ever since the startup of this website, we have tried to hold serveral meet and greet gatherings. I believe our first one was a tour of the WTOG station. It has been a while since we have had another meet and greet and so we decided it was time for one.

Our meet and greet will be held at Jaymer-Que BBQ. If that name sounds familar to you, it is becuase he is the co-founder of this website. He started his own business and nowadays just doesn't have the time for this website anymore. But he is still family.

Jaymer-Que BBQ is located in Valrico/ Brandon. Please visit his website below for directions and his menu. It will be held on Thursday, June 5th after work starting at 6:00pm. Don't worry if your late, some won't get there until 7:00pm.

Who is invited? Anyone interested in meeting your fellow hdtv enthusiasts. And yes bring your spouse.

Interesting... was wondering when you guys were going to hold another of these.

I'll see if I can get a friend who's pretty damn smart w/ these new fangled cable system things to come along, perhaps to answer technical questions/hear some input from you guys. Not sure if it'll be useful, but he likes BBQ. I say may not be useful because he can help w/ technical questions, etc.. this isn't an exec that can answer "Why don't you guys have XYZ in HD yet???" kinda questions.

I'll try to tag along as well... and I'll be zero help, I'm just interested to hear the topics discussed.

Next important question -- do they serve any forms of booze? ;)

Maybe we could meet up at a brandon Carabbas or Chili's for happy hour, and then relocate out to Jamer-Qs at 6:30 or 7 for some great BBQ?

Well I didn't want to sound the alarm to no booze but since it's already been mentioned, I'd like to throw in my 2¢ for meeting some place for at least a few drinks to wind down. Continuing over to Jaymer's for some food afterwards sounds nice.

That's a great idea, looks like there is a Chili's right down the street. The alcoholics could meet there just after work for a few drinks before heading to Jaymers at 6-6:15.

I'm in, and open to other suggestions if someone knows a better place near bye.

Hahaha.. glad to see everyone else appreciates the post-work beverage as much as I do ;), but I'm looking forward to Jaymer-Que.

(Actually, I'd heard of Jaymer-Que, and been meaning to give it a try, as I'm often in the Brandon-ish area, and then I stumbled on the TampaHD connection, so I'm def in on this one!)

I'm looking forward to this. My largest TV is a 25" tube I bought nearly 10 years ago, but obviously the HD community is important to me ;).. so I look forward to hearing the discussions.

I'll see if perhaps I can arrange a tour of something fun close-by. No promises, and guessing not..

Sounds good, I'll try to find an excuse to head out early and I'll meet you there. I'm wearing my Johnny Cash gear (all black -- it's easier when you dress in the dark). You wear something that says "I WRITE FOR ENGADGET".

Well I'm in hell! I just replaced my starter 2-3 weeks ago in my truck and now it's having sudden starting problems again. I've got a mechanic coming over around 5-5:30 today so if it's a simple fix then I'll be on my way to join you all. If I don't make it, then I hope everyone has a great time!

I got home without incident. Thanks to everyone who showed up. Even if it was at the last minute. We'll have to arrange something again after a suitable waiting period. It was nice to see some of the faces.

It was good meeting all of you, I hope this happens more often. Hearing TV-related geek talk was alot of fun.

And hopefully they end better -- I came home to find stories of police reports and dusting for finger prints.. my street was hit by kids celebrating the start of the summer by breaking into houses. Luckily I had a house guest who stopped them for my home....

And my night was ending so well until I got home..

I'll concur w/ this. I'd been too slammed to see if it was public or close to public (aka, can I tell you guys, etc).. but I'm guessing Bschneider already heard from someone a bit higher up the food chain than I, good deal ;)
