Greetings. I am so very close to making the switch to FiOS from Brighthouse. I am just wondering, since many of you have FiOS, if you can give me your thoughts on the service... and are there anythings you don't like about it, especially if you came FROM Brighthouse.
I'm even interested in the little things like the channel changes slow, picture quality for SD channels, On screen displays / guides, etc.
Right now I have Brighthouse with 2 premium channels, plus the HD pak, sports pak, and Encore. I have 1 HD box and 1 SD box, and all together with Road Runner, I pay about $130 a month.
Fios can give me all of that, plus an additional SD box for my TiVo (since it can't use the RF input with Fios the majority of channels I record), they will give me the 3rd premium channel, Starz, NFL NETWORK (woohoo!!), and 10/2 internet for $140 a month.
I'm banking on the internet being as fast or faster, as well as the HDTV picture quality and number of channels offered to be much better than BHN.

My main 'quirk' has to do with their DVR at this time. If you can afford to get a Tivo S3 or HD then I would recommend doing so at this time. With the lifetime service plus the cost of the cablecards you will not only save money in the long run but have the best dvr interface out there, IMO.

I'd say my main quirk is the fact that they add new HD channels slowly, but this should all change in the Spring.
Also I don't like how they drill a hole in the house to run power to the ONT.
No sports 47, so you can't watch as much local sports programming.
Don't use the DVR since I have TiVo with CableCARDs.

but overall you're both happy with FiOS? Will I ever regret my decision to dump BHN?

I'm glad I moved from BHN to FiOS, no regrets. But, if you do regret it, you can always move back a year later.
Also, don't expect internet to be faster if you get the 5/2 package. It will be about the same as cable, or maybe slower since I think BHN has bumped up to 7 Mbps due to Verizon. But, if you get 15/2 it will be faster. But, unless you have multiple PC's in the house that use internet at the same time... or you do ALOT of downloading, then stick with 5/2.

I get the 20/5 and it's fantastic. Sure I don't max it out often, but man when I do.
I'm happy with FIOS, but mostly cause I really like NFL HD and NatGeo HD.

How do you have 20/5? According to the web site there is 5/2, 15/2 and 30/5. How much do you pay monthy for your Internet?
Actually, I looked again, if you click on "prices" it shows a 20/20 plan. Still don't see a 20/5 plan. ???

We have 20/5 too, I verified this yesterday when I ordered the Fios TV to be added to our internet package. We pay $44.99 for FIOS internet only right now. I'm glad to hear it may help with the TV viewing as well. Oh, and the CS rep said that new HD channels would be added after the first of the year. Hopefully that's sooner than spring!
Either way, it's a nice step up from our HDTivo/Directv combination from before.

Locally at least I think they offer 10/2 Internet service as part of a bundle. Although someone at work told me 5/2 is gone and everyone new is getting 10/2 (for the same 5/2 price). The web site says differently so I would call and actually talk to someone at Verizon if you were going to order.
