heh, I have had some brands of cd and dvd r's fail quickly too so thats nothing new. I guess we would need to know the percentages of bd discs that are failing vs other types of discs to know if it's a real problem or just someone trying to make a mountain out of a molehill.

You're right it is old, but technically it's Blu-ray not blu-ray and it's HD DVD, not HD-DVD or HDDVD.
