Hello Kevin1, If you have the space to do it, the best solution is absolutely a traditional roof antenna. The gimmicky ones cost alot more and work alot less. Perhaps you have to go into the attack, if so you will likely have to get a smaller one so has to be able to orient it properly. In Sarasota you will need at least two antennas and maybe three, if you want to pick up channel 10 and your local ABC station. You can try an omnidirectional gimmicky antenna, but it very likely will not work for you. Keep your receipt! And for that matter, any antenna you buy at Radio Shack will likely come with good advice and a good return policy. Just remember you can't buy antennas that are too big, and you have to put any thing up as high as you can. As a rule, adding an amp to a lousy signal will not help and might hurt. You might check out the CEA antenna site, someone here probably has the link.

Would something like the Sealthmaster 4228 mounted in the attic work in Sarasota??
