Saw this article today and was wondering which Tampa channels will be moving after the transition is over.

What surprised me the most was, for whatever reason I thought that 2-12 was going away, not 52-69.
With these channels being eliminated, I wonder where WEDU-DT, WTOG-DT and WTTA-DT will end up. I'd guess in the original assignment, which would move one of them to VHF (bad in my opinion). In fact I would prefer if they moved all the channels to UHF, then we wouldn't need a VHF antenna just for Ch8 and Ch13. Luckily you can usually pick up 7 and 12 with a UHF antenna.

You can check out the final channel assignments for the entire country here:

Man does that suck!!!
Channel 10 is moving to channel 10!! How could they do that? So much for all the new Tampa bay specials people bought. Not only is my jointenna going to be useless, but so is my second antenna!!!!
I really can't believe they let them do that.

That doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Why in the world would Fox13 eventually abandon "13" for "12" while at the same time WEDU gets "13" in place of "3"? These stations take years to establish name recognition like "FOX13" and "NEWSCHANNEL 8" and I doubt very seriously they'd want to change. The best solution would be that when they turn off the analog signal, their digital signal would move to that channel. I mean.... isn't this 7, 12, 24, 29 stuff just a temporary spot for the digital signals anyway? That's why they have all the re-mapping. I can see where WFTS wouldn't really care as they market themselves as "ABC ACTION NEWS". But if the others were really moving, don't you think we'd start to see more of an image change from NewsChannel "8" and Fox "13"? I for one am not putting much stock in that chart.

Having Fox and PBS swap channels is strange. Did PBS beat Fox turning in their channel request, or what?
Having ch 10 stay on 10 will be good for most people that have the original bay area special antenna, since the second antenna is cut for 10-VHF. I wish ch 10 would move their transmitter location down to the antenna farm where everyone else is in Boyette, south of Riverview. That would save thousands of people the aggravation of having two antennas with all the multipath and side-lobe problems.

They will always continue to remap to their original channels, so they won't rebrand anything.
I agree about Ch10, but I was talking to someone who used to be associated with them, and he was telling me that they've wanted to move to Boyette forever and the FCC simply won't let them since they're afraid they might interfere with a channel out of Miami. It appears the distance between Boyette and Holiday is just far enough for them to feel confident there won't be any interference.

Was it Miami? I thought it was Ft Myers or somewhere like that.
